In summary

Oak Mountain State Park Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic location and player-friendly design, offering a solid golfing experience for various skill levels at reasonable rates. However, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the greens and the perceived lack of customer service, particularly citing issues with staff demeanor and management of tee times. Additionally, there are concerns about the course's pricing and maintenance, with some feeling it does not justify the cost.

Just moved to the area from Texas and decided to give this course a try since the local course in the community didn’t have the tee time I needed. Looking at other reviews I was nervous as to what to expect from the staff, however, the reverse was true. From the clubhouse, starter and marshals, everything exceeded my expectations. I decided to walk 18 on this visit and hit a small bucket before my round. Range was good, course played well, slower greens than I’m used to. Looking forward to when leaves are on trees and fairways are green. Played better than most courses in Texas where I played…

It should be VERY well documented if you’re gonna close your driving range and course and you’re located inside a park that costs money to enter. That’s ridiculous I drove 30 minutes and paid $5 to go to the range in the middle of the day and it’s closed. It’s 2026 please maintain an online presence.

Got there for 8 a tee time. Wouldn’t let us play because of “frost” there wasn’t much at all, and course quality didn’t warrant such a delay (2 hrs) They charge 15 a person for a golf cart, which is absolutely insane when you consider you have to pay another 5 per person just to enter the park. Way over priced l, greens in bad shape and poor irrigation

As someone who's played The Oaks multiple times, I can confidently say it's a course that offers a fantastic experience for all skill levels. Nestled within the stunning scenery of Oak Mountain State Park, it’s a truly beautiful course that makes every round feel like a getaway. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the forgiving nature of the rough. Unlike some courses where a slightly wayward shot is a guaranteed lost ball, The Oaks gives you a chance to recover. This makes it a great choice for golfers who are still finding their swing, including beginners. In fact, I recently play…

Have played Oak Mountain many times over the years. It is in great shape right now. Had a very pleasant round on 9/18, staff was very friendly, just a great value for golf.

Nice public golf course. Reasonable rates. Also has driving range, large putting green and a chipping green. Save your golf receipts to get free admission to the State Park the next time you play golf. Select and book tee times online at the Oak Mountain web site. The clubhouse also has a grill for all park guests.

I’m coming on here to hopefully save some people from wasting their time and money. I’ve golfed here probably 7-8 times and the past weekend will definitely be my last. The past 3 rounds I’ve played here the greens have been airrated with more sand the grass on the green. The ball hops like it’s a bouncing ball when you putt. I had a personal best round going into the last 3 holes and they proceed to turn the sprinklers on the greens?? We were on hole 16 and were no where close to being the last group. We had to wait in the fairway each of the last 3 holes for them to go off. Then when we ge…

I wanted to share with you the following information. If you are looking to walk-on as a single at Oak Mountain State park golf course, do not waste your time. This would hold true for a twosome as well. The staff at this course are very rude and not customer oriented. Today, I went to Oak Mountain hoping to walk-on as I have done thousands of times over the more than 35 years that I have been playing here. I should have known better as the last few times I attempted to walk-on, I had the same results today. I was hopeful though as the parking lot was fairly empty and nobody was on the 1st te…

We’ve played a lot of courses, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The starter (an older, skinny man with glasses) was unbelievably rude from the moment we arrived. He spoke to us with unnecessary attitude and seemed more concerned with barking orders than creating a welcoming environment. Instead of ensuring players were having a good time, he acted like a power-tripping hall monitor—rushing us onto the course and making the whole start of the round tense and uncomfortable. Golf is supposed to be enjoyable, but this guy single-handedly killed the vibe before we even te…

Way over priced, I remember about 4-5 years ago, I’d used to go play a round for about 30 bucks, now I’m paying 70$??. This is a state park folks they don’t need to be charging higher end prices. If you are thinking about golfing here make sure it doesn’t rain for about a month before because their drainage system is the worst that I have ever played. Either they need to aerate the whole fairways 2x or just rip up everything. The staff is very rude and that’s a whole nother topic I could go on with inappropriate conversation but I hope yall have a better experience. This place is very over pri…

My experience was similar to some of the reviews scrolled past. The older gentleman with glasses (lengthy guy) was very rude to our group. We were rushed to get off the first tee even though there was a back up on joke 2 from where I’m sure he rushed the other two groups off the first tee. Also the issue that really stuck out to me and showed me his (entitlement/power trip) was when he made the comment “do you even know what a 90 degree rule is” after expressing that the 90 degree rule was in play that day. Never will go back again until I hear that guy is gone.

Course is excellent, greens are true, and not too challenging. The gate staff and pro shop staff are great. Food at the grill is good, definitely recommend the sandwiches and have local breweries available. The only thing holding this course back are some of the course marshalls. On several occasions they have abused their "authority" on groups I've been a part of and others. Example, a golfer in my group had an inch of tire on a par 3 rough (sand/dirt/weeds), marshall drives up, yells that he needs to move it, mumbles, and drives off. Another, we were in a split group of 2 and 3. Course was b…
