In summary

Old Orchard Country Club is noted for its friendly staff and the course's historical layout, which some find appealing. However, the majority of feedback highlights significant issues with course maintenance, including overgrown fairways, poor greens, and inadequate facilities, leading to a subpar playing experience. Many visitors express disappointment over the deteriorating conditions and the lack of investment in upkeep, with some mentioning the course's impending closure due to being sold for development.

It's not a good place to play games, but it's the best golf course to practice alone. The staff is nice and nice. But the facilities are bad. Men's bathrooms are often locked. So I had to use women's bathrooms. Women don't even come here anyway.

I'm really sick of this Golf course, have had a broken windshield on my Subaru. Dented hood on my truck , today 6/19/24 find another golf ball and a huge dent on the roof of my Fiances Subaru. I've spoken with the general manager Robert S. there to get the run around multiple times. No call backs, sent emails with information that he requested. They wont cover or pay for any damages. I literally collect golf balls off my street and lawn daily from the inexperienced people that play there, launching golf balls at the 11th and 12th holes. I recommended adding a net back there, like many other we…

This was a nice place for playing golf but it has come to an end with the season and has been sold to a developer. Sorry to see it go and more housing being put in where there is green grass and trees. Not much land left that's not developed anymore.

Staff was nice, course conditions were better than I expected due to other reviews but we’re still rough. Overall a beautiful layout with great history. Definitely in need of some major improvements but for your avg hack player it’s a good time

Friendly staff, decent pro shop, but the course itself is in DESPERATE need of TLC. Absolutely no excuse for the greens to look like this at the end of June (played 6/23/2024) for the amount they charge. Played this course last year as well after moderate rain the day before, and the drainage is atrocious! Thought I hit one of my drives into the middle of a lake, turned out to be the middle of the fairway. Sorry to say, I won't be back.

This place is not even worthy of one star. I’ve been playing golf my whole life and I can say with 100% certainty these are the worst course conditions I have ever seen. We lost 6 balls in the middle of the fairway. That’s how high the grass is. The greens are diseased and so slow that you need to almost take a full swing to get to the hole. The bunkers have as much grass as the fairways. Having been in the business I can tell you that the course has virtually no chemical program or weed control, they are obviously short of staff and most or all of the equipment must be broken. The power carts…

This place is going out of business. I went on Aug 2nd, 2025 - It was the day the heat wave broke, the weather was clear and sunny, the temp 82. The place should have been packed and it was empty. The course is in terrible condition, they have almost no carts left in working order. The fairway is not mowed. The greens are overgrown, the sand traps don't have sand.... The place is closing. It's really sad - I remember playing here in mid-2000s. It was never a fancy course, but it was always well maintained and a fun place to play. My son and I quit today after playing 7 holes... We both had los…

Genuinely the worst course I have played. I payed $60 to play + a cart. The course is horribly kept, if youre thinking of playing here, don’t do it.

Avoid this course. You are much better off getting a Monmouth County card and playing one of the county courses. Fairways, rough, and tee boxes are in laughable condition. Greens are fine. There was a dead fox carcass sitting on a tee box. I'm convinced you have to try to have the course in this bad a shape. I'm sure back in the day this course was great and it sure has potential, but now it's a waste. Avoid if you can.

I’m giving it two stars for the pleasant staff but I think the maintenance staff has been on strike for the last three months. Greens were horrible, tee boxes were non existent, garbage everywhere, can’t tell the fairway from the rough, skunk beer at the 9th hole and the cart path is like your off roading. Definitely not worth the $70 they charge. Please invest into this once great course.

This course is just laughable. Probably the worst course in America. No fairways, bunkers with no sand, greens made of dirt, and the actual holes were filled with dirt water when it hasn’t rained in a week. It was so bad I left after the first hole. It wasn’t worth staying there any longer, even though i payed 30$ Every time I think of this course I laugh. But the guy in the pro shop was nice.

The course was in horrible condition, weedson the fairway made it very difficult to find your ball. The grounds crew was cutting while you were playing AND they were doing the sand traps and you couldn’t breath! The cart ran out of power on the 3rd hole and they replaced it with a broken cart, see picture. I tried to speak with the guy in the office he was belligerent at best, tried to contact the GM, Robert Sheerin and no response. I would NEVER waste my money here again and it WASN’T CHEAP.
