In summary

Piney Valley Golf Course is appreciated for its unique layout, featuring lakes and elevation changes, and is considered a good value by some, particularly for its affordable pricing and friendly staff. However, there are frequent criticisms regarding the condition of the greens, outdated golf carts, and a noticeable bug problem, which detracts from the overall experience. Additionally, some visitors have expressed concerns about customer service and the lack of food options beyond packaged snacks.

Attempted to “play” here 8/30/2025. Course layout is great but the “greens” are in horrible condition! No sorts of texture to the grass impossible to putt on. Paid $100 for two people to play! Joke of a golf course!

It’s seen better days. Apparently a little over a year ago there was flooding that ruined the sprinkler system leaving the course to bake an entire summer killing the greens. There’s a driving range and pro shop with a standard selection of golf things. Played it last fall too and boy were there a ton of horse flies…proceed with caution.

Love the course. Samantha is awesome to work with in the clubhouse. Driving range is cheap and nice. Will be going again. Greens have been fully renowned and look awesome. Fairways are nice. Course setup is very unique with lakes and elevation changes. The wife and I play here all the time. Consider it our local course.

Terrible conditions. Honestly, it's mismanaged. Management doesn't seem to know anything about running a golf course. No food option besides packaged foods. No hot dogs/brats because verbatim "we don't want to go to some dumb food handling course." That's the only reason. I bought a membership when I arrived but I wont renew. I attempted to purchase a hard seltzer and the employee asked if I was an officer. I replied no. He said because he only sees officers and women buy those, and of course "fairies." Whatever that's supposed to mean dude. Bad customer service from basically everyone but Ton…

This course is as good as or better than any public 18 hole course I ever played in St.Louis and much cheaper, less crowded and staffed by much friendlier people. And the other golfers are very friendly. The course is well maintained. Anyone who complains about this course should go play some other public 18 hole course. You’ll be back.

The course was a wet quagmire the day we played. The layout is pretty good but there are a couple of weird holes. Pace of play was good. Super friendly staff. The carts need to be updated, they struggle to get you up the hills. Also, they could use GPS range finders in the carts. Overall, good value .

Course is average. Played now about six times and not overly impressed. Completely different than the other military posts that I have played. Overall upkeep of the course is not prime, bear minimum at best. Golf carts are outdated, not maintained, and not once have I received one that had been cleaned. Today I had the opportunity to pull out old cigarettes, beer cans, and someone’s old candy bar. The prices are a little expensive for what you get. The staff is nice but I am not quite sure what they do yet. I am going to drive a few minutes further and try something new.

Below average course yet priced like it's the best in the area. Weeds in the fairway. Tee boxes so hard you can barely get a tee in. Gnats are out of control. Carts are trash. $60 on any other installation and you're playing a great course, not here.

Using the driving range, these two rolled up and have been chatting for 30 minutes out there doing nothing. Meanwhile no balls are being hit... or work being done apparently

Price does not match quality of course. If it rains and you go there 6 days later it’s still flooded in areas and the T boxes are not maintained well.

The brats are terrible! I will pay more for a better brat, Johnsonville brats please!! Other than that, the course is nice for the area and the prices are reasonable. It is a very relaxed course.

Terribly overpriced for the condition its always in. Absolutely horrible customer service and they change rules during their "tournaments". Played on many installations and this is not geared towards the Military. Don't get me started on the bug infestation. Before someone tries to defend this place I would advise you to go see what 60 bucks gets you literally every where else. Yes, I could have not played once I realized the bait and switch but already had childcare arranged so it was now or never. Take the extra 15 mins and go to Dixon if you want a better experience.
