In summary

Portland Golf Course West is highly praised for its well-maintained greens, challenging layout, and friendly, accommodating staff, particularly the head pro, Gerry, who is noted for his excellent instruction. The course offers good value for its price, with additional amenities like a driving range and putting green. However, some visitors mention the need for cart path improvements and express dissatisfaction with the online booking system and restaurant service.

First time playing Portland West yesterday. It did not disappoint! This one has been on my list for quite some time, and I was extremely impressed at the conditions. Kept very well, very affordable, and terrific views. I will certainly be back! ⛳️

This is a gorgeous course and the staff are amazing! Tee times are generally open and usually wait times are minimal!

Portland West is an awesome and challenging short course. A great value for your dollar. You can play 9 holes in about 2 hours if you are moving. The back side is hilly with a lot of water. The greens are surrounded by bunkers, but they are in great shape.

Favorite golf course in the state of Connecticut. Great price and wonderful course and just minutes away from the Portland Ale House.

Great executive course where you can play nine in no time! Course is in great condition, only minor improvements needed, such as some cart path repairs, but otherwise very friendly and helpful staff

Love the course and always maintained well but not having online tee times is annoying, especially for 2025! Feels like a big game of phone tag between the shop and my friends when trying to book a tee time

Always a good experience. The course is in great shape and constantly improving. Gerry's lessons are awesome and come highly recommended, no matter your experience level. Call ahead and they will give you the best times for pace of play

Great golf course but the owners need to invest in new cart paths, they are beyond horrible. Groundskeepers doing amazing job on this course. Present restaurant is the Red Fox. It's not a country club so please don't serve oysters. Just hot dogs and burgers please and a little quicker service would be greatly appreciated. Great waiters. Very nice but overpriced and not worth the money. Bartenders and wait staff are really nice but this type of restaurant is not going to work at this course. Challenging course and always good shape. The Pro is Jerry and he is awesome. Bottom line, great course,…

Small, (Par 60) but challenging golf course. I enjoy playing here! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Green fees are very reasonable. And with a driving range and putting green you have an opportunity to warm up before your round of golf. The '19th hole' offers a great atmosphere, with good food and cold beverages. Go ahead, book a tee time and play golf!

I love playing at this course. The staff is top notch and helpful. I am just starting to play golf and this place is the best around to figure it out. Has a bit of everything to learn, a few longer holes to drive and alot of medium to short game stuff. The greens are kinda tricky and make you think. If you want a lesson Gerry is excellent, he has helped me with just a few lessons , I look forward to more. Give it try and you'll like it too!!
