In summary

Royal Oaks Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and scenic views, making it a good option for casual play and events. However, visitors frequently mention difficulties with navigation due to its complex layout within a neighborhood, and some have noted maintenance issues with fairways, greens, and facilities. While the clubhouse offers appealing amenities and dining experiences, the course itself could benefit from better signage and overall upkeep.

Fun course. Very friendly staff, good pricing. A little hard to find some of the holes.

Kind of hard to find since it's so deep in a neighborhood, but the course plays well. Staff are very friendly and use the house cart to come around to offer drinks and snacks. The view from the clubhouse is quite breathtaking, and offers a great way to relax after a round of golf.

Greens were just aerated and are not in good shape. If you need to practice everything but putting then it is worth a visit during twilight hours. No one on the course and the fees are cheap. $15 to ride 9 and I think it is $20 to ride 18. If it is not then it should be. I wouldn't pay more than $20 to play on it right now in it's current state.

One of the top 5 WORST courses I have ever played and I have played many. None of the holes were connected; it was a maze finding the next hole in between the houses and streets of the subdivision. The back 9 was a mess; none of the holes coordinated with the score card. I actually could not even score on a few holes it was so bad. The fairways were not mowed. There was old grass clumps from previous mowings. The carts were loud and gasoline powered and extremely slow. The paths were in disrepair. The clubhouse was run down and pathetically disgusting. The only redeeming thing were the greens…

Condition: Apart from a few unrepaired ball marks and divots, the greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Some of the non-essential course features had seen better days. [B+] Layout: Does not appear to be a walking-friendly course (though I didn't try). However, I was glad they provided gas-powered carts. The layout of the holes within and around the local neighborhood made for some quirks -- especially as a first time visitor. The grounds people or HOA really needs to spend a day with some spray paint and numerical stencils to help guide players to the next tee. Just getting to the firs…

Staff is wonderful here! Great rates for playing on a scenic course. Some wide fairways and some really challenging ones. I recently learned that the clubhouse has a chef that was featured on a tv show! No wonder the food was so fantastic! Clubhouse has amazing views too, it would make a great place for a reunion or wedding reception! Highly recommend playing course and visiting clubhouse for planning an event!

The course recently aerated the greens, but they have healed nicely. Also, the course has returned to its previous 2015 configuration. I enjoy playing at this course because the fees are real reasonable. It's a good value for the money.

This course has gone down hill fast the past few years. Last two times I have been, the club house guy was 10 minutes late to open. Three groups had to go off at the same time since this guy had nothing ready until 20 mins after the course was supposed to be open. Fairways looked like they weren’t mowed in a week, and the greens were tall and fuzzy. 90 degrees out and snack shack was closed. Drink cart finally came out when we were finishing up at 11:00 am. Definitely not going back anytime soon.

This course really needs some TLC. Golf carts struggle to make it up the hills and drive too slow to be navigating out as far as this course can take you. Getting back to the clubhouse in a cart can take forever, especially if caught in the rain. They need to post better navigation signs to locate holes since the paths go in/out between homes and down different streets. Simple painting on the asphalt would be an improvement. Maybe a dashed line for golf carts to follow to next hole.

Some construction going on around a couple of holes. Not knowing the course we took wrong turns a few times, as the directions we're not that great. Some of the greens were quite rough. Nice views in parts but I doubt we'd play this course again when in the area

Have you seen Lambert acres or Green Meadows lately? Far and away much healthier greens/fairways. Royal Oaks looks like someone is slowly chopping it into pieces to build houses. Is it gradually disappearing? What's the end game for the golf course?

Great challenging course set in the foothills of the Smokies. For those of you needing to lighten your bag with a couple lost balls or move up and enjoy a Saturday afternoon this place has options for both.
