In summary

Rutland Country Club is praised for its beautifully maintained and challenging golf course, friendly staff, and tranquil setting. Baxter's, the on-site restaurant, is noted for its varied menu and generally good food quality, although some diners have experienced slow service and were not fond of certain dishes. The overall experience is positive, with many visitors expressing a desire to return.

First time visiting Baxter's. Our waitress was nice, service was prompt and our food was good. The fries were not very warm and not my favorite type (shoestring) but our sandwiches made up for it as they were very good. Definitely would go back again.

The lunch was delicious and the service was excellent. The gentleman who served us was pleasant and efficient. He was wonderful. The dessert was incredible!! I got the best carrot cake I've ever had. I'd love to go there for lunch again.

Truly an untouched gem. Very demanding course from 50 yards in with great sight lines with plenty of slope changes that challenges golfers of all skill levels. Maintaining of the original course layout has been duly handled in a remarkable manner by the membership through the years. Outstanding Golf Staff makes a visitor very welcome to enjoy the round of golf in an all positive manner. Do not miss this course hidden in Vermont, you definitely want to return again and again.

Nice view...about all I can say. Place was empty yet service was pitifully slow. Someone should teach the weekday afternoon bartender that you do not muddle the cherries when making an Old Fashion. The black bean burger was very dry to the point of breaking up when bitten into.... Well you never know until you try...now I can say I've tried Baxter's. I shan't return.

Nice, open atmosphere seating with a window in one section over looking the golf course. Attentive staff, we were seated right away with no reservation. Decent selection of food. I ordered the meatloaf, which was served dunked in a thick gravy, so it stuck to the meat. It was good, but too thick, in my opinion, and did not add to the palate experience. I prefer a more traditional style of metloaf. It seems restaurants are always trying to improve the recipe. The dish came with a side of potatoes and vegetable. The potatoes had a specific name which, escapes me at the moment, to indicate that t…

We’re a party of five, with a handicap grandmother who’s 86. We were seated by the coffee/water corner and there were several tables available when we got there at 5:15. We requested twice (the hostess and our waitress) for a more comfortable / easier to navigate table but our request was declined despite the many empty tables. Their rationale that there are only five of us vs 6 which would have given us more space. We have not had this experience in a restaurant before. I requested for the manager but was informed by the receptionist that she has already left.

Not very busy so no rush in the kitchen , waitress service fine . We ordered the fried scallop special came with fries and a small coleslaw salad.5 not very large scallop and tasted like they were fried in burnt oil and were rubbery .

The staff is as friendly as could possibly be expected. The course is unbelievably beautiful, challenging, and well maintained. I would recommend this course over any in the area. When I move here I will join. Thank you to the staff for treating me like a priority. The best golf staff I have dealt with in years. Thank You again, I had a great time.

Sunday Mother’s Day Brunch was delicious. Service was quick and brunch was not rushed. We enjoyed the wide variety of choices including Prime Rib with Bernaise sauce— so tender. Eggs Benedict was a big hit along with the mimosas.

Outstanding for quality of food and generally the service as well - occasionally when crowded or unexpectedly short staffed, can be a little slow, but the usual service is very good. Baxter’s is in the clubhouse and part of Rutland Country Club (a private club) but the restaurant and bar are open to the public, and non-members are welcome and encouraged to come and dine.
