In summary

The Scranton Municipal Golf Course receives praise for its well-maintained greens and friendly staff, with some visitors highlighting the enjoyable layout and good condition relative to its public status. However, there are consistent criticisms regarding the dry and rough fairways, rocky sand traps, and occasional miscommunication about course conditions. Some players also express dissatisfaction with the pace of play and customer service experiences.

Greens in decent shape, except for some dead spots. Fairways were a desert they were so dry. Burnt grass everywhere. Sand traps were filled with mostly rocks, not sand. At near $30 a person, I will most likely not go back.

You pay money and play only to have them say someone complained about us being to slow. Last time I knew my money is just as good as everyone else. We had let some people by in the beginning knowing that I am a beginner. I will be back any complaints tell the complainers to go somewhere else. It suppose to be fun and relaxing.

The course has turned into a pasture. Lost balls on fairways, sand traps lack any sand and there are rocks in them the size of baseballs. I have always enjoyed playing there, but won't go back.

Just cancelled our Tee Time to play else where today. This will be the last time I will be lied to about course conditions by the staff at this course. It is Sat 5-27, I was told by the course staff who took my tee time on Thurs 5-25 that "the course is in great shape and that the greens were punched over 3 weeks ago and pretty much filled in." Negative Ghost Rider! I had a friend who I spoke with Friday evening 5-26 who played the course on Wed 5-24 that the greens were horrible and still had holes in them. I like playing this course when in town, however next time I get taken advantage of af…

Good greens other than that horrible!!! Fairways are no different than average golf course rough. It’s like hitting shots at your buddies mowed pasture. Again the greens are really really nice but not worth the money

Considering this course is a "Muni" and it gets a lot of play you would think it would be in so-so condition at best. Guess again!!! It's in great shape & has been all season. Cudos to the maintenance staff!!!

Open to the public, generally well-kept and not too difficult to walk, if that's your thing. Certainly worth playing if you're in the area.
