In summary

Shinnecock Hills Golf Course is widely praised for its challenging layout, historic significance, and stunning natural setting, making it a highly regarded venue for prestigious events like the U.S. Open. The course is noted for its well-maintained conditions and the strategic demands it places on golfers, offering a true test of skill. However, some visitors have mentioned the lack of shade and dry grass as minor drawbacks, though these do not significantly detract from the overall experience.

I went to the 1st and 2nd US Open. My tech was a caddy also so I traded a golf club made for 3 Brands and I got tickets. The first open was super but the 2nd I hung out with BJ son and walked the course like his dad. Step for step up hole 9 and then looked at all the Police and pointed to get the kids off the roofs of the garages next to the grand stand. I thanked the law enforcement people who acted right. I drove home with a Flag signed by 3 players no stars needed. This golf course is the best golf club in the Hamptons. 🏠🛻📺🎥🔧💰🏆🎬

Classic and Historical golf course. Great condition in early October 2023. Par 70 with lots of tee box/yardage options.

This is in my opinion not the best golf course. Although the staff are friendly there is not an inch of shade to be seen. Grass is extremely dry and unforgiving. The US Golf open was good and there were sufficient tents for people to get shade but overall I did not enjoy the grounds themselves.

Over rated as it is now the step sister to Sebonic (More character) and OF course National Golf Links is is the big dog on the block. If it weren't for the USGA tie in now one would ever hear of this place. So if you want a day of being looked down on and being told you are not a member this is the place.

One of the truest and purest tests of your golf game, and absolutely one of the greatest golf courses on planet Earth. Make sure you take in the sun and breeze before teeing off because "Shinny" will test you like no other. Out on the eastern terrain of Long Island, where the land meets the sea and the winds never truly rest, there lies Shinnecock Hills. It is not just a golf course, but a proving ground, a place where man meets nature, challenges it, respects it. The old links, with its deep roots tracing back to the late 1800s, has a soul. Walking its fairways, one can feel the weight of h…
