Holy cow these courses were awesome!! Best value on the island for sure! $180 for all three 9’s!! When we pulled up to the baggage drop the first thing the gentlemen told us was “Welcome to the best greens on the island boys!” They then proceeded to tell us that they have special zoysia grass that doesn’t have a grain!! 🤯 the way the grass grows it grows straight up and they cut it so fine that the grain doesn’t affect the speed of the putts. All putts roll the same! Incredible! We started on Galleon - which has the most water on any of the three courses. I birdied the 8th hole over a huge ga…

Played the Galleon and Clipper courses at Shipyard and had a fantastic round. The greens were in excellent shape – smooth and fast – and the bunkers were well-maintained throughout. Great course with some fun holes that even a newbie can end up with a par on. The only downside was the starter being a bit annoyed at us for being “late,” even though we arrived 20 minutes early. That aside, the staff was friendly and the course layout was both fun and challenging. Highly recommend Shipyard to any golfer visiting Hilton Head!

I own a condo on the 7th green on Brigantine and have been there for the past 13 years! I have been fortunate enough to watch the transformation of the course during this time. The course always looked old and tired and lacked tender loving care. The rough was sparse, the approach areas were just as bad. I played here out of convenience and found myself playing elsewhere in HH on the island. The past two seasons, the course has shown the greens super has taken pride in the course. The fairways, tee boxes, rough and approach areas have blossomed under his direction. I find myself playing mor…

I was quoted 120.00 for greens fees, when we checked in the said the rates were raised to 180.00 . After playing it , I wouldn’t pay 80.00 to play it. Very thin and sparse fairways. The greens were inconsistent and a lot of bad spots on the greens. There are so many more golf courses around that have much better conditions and way better pricing. Play somewhere else , this place is not worth it at all.

Stayed at Spinnaker at Shipyard for a week long golf vacation with my family and we were excited to play this course for the first time. Started off on the Clipper course at 8:12am and the first 7 of 9 holes we had multiple grounds crew cutting the grass at every hole and waiting for us to tee off at each hole so they could cut before and after us. Next, we had a group of 12 senior men right behind us in a league, I’m assuming a gimmick round, dropping their balls 100 yards from each flag. The Brigatine course wasn’t much better. We had another maintenance guy right at my tee box on his cell p…

Don’t play if you aren’t ready to be hounded for pace or play. The course itself was in good shape with very nice greens. At least what I would expect for the price. Some of the staff was very nice but one starter made sure that me and my teenage sons all understood that pace of play was king. This was even after explaining that both of my boys were beginners. Before we had even finished the first hole he came up to tell us that a group was teeing off behind us. I ask if he wanted us to let them play through if they caught up. I was told no that we should already be on the next hole and that…

Full blown random sprinklers for our entire 18 hole round. Literally got soaked on two tee boxes as we were teeing off by surprise sprinklers. Popped up and soaked. 2 star rating up from 1 reflects good quality greens. Got kicked off the chipping green right before our round due to sprinklers. Head pro out of town. Give your staff some empowerment so they can solve problems.

Disappointing experience at Shipyard, with a lot of small hassles adding up to an overall sub-optimal time. 1. The course was in good shape in some areas, pretty ragged in others. Of note is that the 18 putting surfaces (actually 17, as one green is under repair) were very inconsistent from one another in terms of speed and care. Not acceptable for a round of golf. 2. Time management was completely absent for the 2-hour-40-minute front nine on Galleon. Not a ranger in sight. 3. Either charge me for range balls or don't. But if "range balls included" actually means "you get 20 for free but h…

Played shipyard today. We heard some pretty low opinions when we told locals where we were playing. One went as far as to call in Sh!tyard. From the time we rolled up, staff was friendly and attentive. He explained how they are overseeding with rye and the Bermuda is starting to come in. There are spots where you could see that. But overall, fairways are in good shape. The greens were absolutely beautiful. Green, well manicured. Fast enough for low handicaps, but not too tough for high handicaps. If you have a low opinion of this course, try it again. Well done Shipyard. Also, lots of gators t…

This was by far the worst golf course I’ve ever visited. The starter lacks professionalism and really needs to be retrained or replaced . I would also like to address the fact that they don’t have any tolerance for persons with special needs. If you are looking forward to a great golfing experience….your money is better spent somewhere else.

Didn’t play the course but they allowed me and my 7 year old daughter to play the 9th hole. Clubhouse staff also came up to us while we were putting and gave her a bag of pink balls. Awesome experience for a newcomer to the game. Thanks!!

3rd time playing here. Great course with some challenges, yet fair. Greens and fairways were terrific.
