In summary

St. Johns County Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course conditions, challenging layout, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors. The course offers good value for money, with notable practice facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. However, some players have expressed concerns about slow pace of play, inconsistent maintenance of bunkers, and occasional issues with amenities such as the snack bar and beverage service.

Decent course. The employees were rude on multiple encounters. We had a storm coming close and was caught in it trying to get back to the clubhouse. We were never informed or warned by staff at all! Very disappointing. We have played this course for many years, every holiday and encountered more rude and condesending people this year than ever before! Staff and other players!

Course in good shape from tee to green. Greens rolled very good. Pace of play was excellent on a busy day. Had beverage cart out for those interested.

Fairways, greens, service, carts very good. Tee boxes need leveling- considering how much play they get tee box grass was good enough- just not level.

Hard to beat for a public course around here. I did a Titleist iron fitting with Wes, the GM, and it was a fantastic experience and he got me in the right clubs and has helped with other clubs since. The majority of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Considering how much traffic this course gets it is in amazing condition. Shout out to the maintenance crew! And shout out to Duke the starter.

What has happened to this course? Played it last year and it was fabulous. Played March 16 - tees and greens were mediocre at best, numerous have large bare patches. Bunkers (which are very unique) need serious attention in edging and leveling and the most puzzling was no food, no alcohol, no water (someone said they sold bottled water and Gatorade in the pro shop, but come on). I’ll be watching comments and feedback and hope they get the course back in good shape and open the snack bar before I return.

The cart paths are geofenced. It’s extremely frustrating to turn around three times, within 100 feet, on a cart path. Between the geofencing and the weather alert system, i’d spend my money somewhere else. Otherwise, much time can be saved if you commit to driving backwards the entire round.

Terrible. Staff is comically rude. Tee boxes are rock solid. Fairways are lined with trees and or incorporate trees that need to be trimmed or removed. Greens are either slow, burnt, or both. Pace of play was atrocious, I don’t even think they employ a ranger. 8 carts on one hole at one point. I left after the 13th, that was enough. The County should just give that land back to the alligators.

In short, this course is perhaps the best value in the St. Augustine area. As FL resident, you can't beat around $50 for a Saturday tee time! Longer Review: Staff (5/5): All the staff was very pleasant and welcoming! Course Conditions (4/5): While the square(coffin) bunkers and greens are unique(and didn't detract from my day) they did cost me a couple strokes. The two times I was in the bunker I ended up basically straddling a right angle making for an awkward shot. There was plenty of water so be careful. Not too many forced carries, but errant shots will find the water. The greens were pr…

Better shape than July 24. Tees and fairways are much better, not perfect, but better. Greens were hard and semi-fast. Some greens are ruff, but they're working on them, and hole placement was mostly in a good area. I'm not a fan of the "square" bunkers. The problem is they're flat. you can't see them from the fairway, so you don't know how the architect intended for the hole to be played. There is no visual interest or aesthetic appeal, and you won't know if you're in one until you get to your ball. However, they did actually have sand in them this year. If they would go back to the standard…

I played on 6/2/24 while on vacation. The ladies in the pro shop were most polite and helpful when I used the practice range and made a tee time. The course, despite the lack of rain, was in great shape. The course was fully booked, but we still played in 3 hours and 45 minutes. I most highly recommend this course !!!
