What People Say

In summary

Star Hill Golf Club is appreciated for its well-maintained course, challenging layout, and friendly, accommodating staff. The club offers a good value with three distinct 9-hole tracks and various amenities, including GPS-equipped carts and a cafe with a popular menu. However, some visitors have noted issues with the greens' condition, slow pace of play, and occasional high pricing, which can detract from the overall experience.

Family vaca Emerald Isle, played Pines and Lakes ! Loved the layout. Myself and 3 grandsons had a very enjoyable day on the course. Course was in very good shape. Staff could not have been more helpful and polite.Rates are excellent for this time of year. See y’all next year !

Got to play 9 holes of the Pines side! Nice track for the money. Driving range was a little rough and only 150 yards. Tee boxes were good, fairways mostly plush and Bermuda greens rolling pretty quick. The pace of play was a little slower today but usually the pace is ahead of schedule. Shot a nice 39 from the blues with a great opening birdie but a disappointing closing bogey. Didn’t see any gators but did see some big squirrels.

I don't play much golf, but I have played worse courses for more money. This is a decent course at a great price and well worth it. The greens definitely need some work, but the fairways and course overall were gorgeous. I think important to note that the staff are amazing. Extremely welcoming, helpful, and friendly. They are happy to answer any questions to any player of any level. Would give 5 stars of the greens were slightly improved as they are very fast, however this may be due to the sandy environment.

Single digit handicap out from Arizona and this was a very pleasant surprise!! The greens were true, the layout is a challenge and the service in the pro shop was extremely friendly and professional!! If you need a place to play near Emerald Isle, Star Hill is a must play!!

Great course, open and well maintained. Fast greens , foursome played in 4 hours thanks to GPS carts. Nice practice range to warm up, putting, chipping and clubs up to 150 yards. Will play every time in the area. Country club feel without the the high price.

Visiting town and vacation and looked for a close, local course. Having read some of the reviews, I wasn't holding out a lot of hope for the condition of the course, but was pleasantly surprised. The greens were a bit bumpy from being aerated but they were in good shape and rolled well overall. Played only the "Sands" 9 but the fairways were in good shape too. Some burnt spots or dirt areas around the course but that's to be expected as the season goes along. Driving range only goes to 160 yards and the pitch/putt practice area is marginal, but good enough for warming up. The carts were very n…

Nancy & Lauren were both phenomenal and very accommodating for our large party of 10. I would give both of them 100/100. Nancy came and checked on us multiple times. Very very friendly. Highly recommend Birdies to anyone. Great atmosphere and vibe on the golf course!

Used the pool day pass for our family, since there are just no public pools around and we promised our son for weeks to go. Its a decent enough pool but needs a little update. Same with the showers, toilets etc. Lifeguard was on duty and very attentive. Unfortunately at $20 a person, this will be a one and done deal

Star Hill is a favorite ENC golf course. Three 9 hole tracks--The Lakes, The Pines and The Sands. Each course is excellent and always well maintained. Greens are in great shape and a challenge (especially when the wind is blowing). Courses are laid out nice hole to hole. And there's even a landing strip for small planes on the course which is cool! Great staff from pro shop to grounds crew to cart barn. And tasty fried pickles at the Cafe for after golf. Love Star Hill and highly recommend for golf outings!

Treated us like peasants instead of guests, my buddies and I used to come and play 9 holes every week(prices are outrageous). Today me and a few of my friends were playing 18 holes for his birthday, the starter comes up to us and says tells us to hurry up and to split our group up even though we reserved 2 separate tee times. Safe to say this will be our last time at the Star Hill course.
