In summary

Steel Canyon Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly staff, accessible location, and fun layout with unique elevation changes, making it a popular choice for casual golfers and those looking to improve their short game. The driving range, equipped with TopTracer technology, is a highlight for many visitors. However, some golfers express concerns about the course's maintenance, particularly the condition of the greens and tee boxes, and note that the pricing may not always reflect the course's current state.

I’ve decided to edit my review, as this is the most accessible golf course near me. The staff has been super kind ever since my first visit. This is a great course to simply get out and golf. The driving range is great too. I don’t give it five stars, as the course isn’t in the best shape. Some parts can be totally flooded at times after it rains, one of the tee boxes has mats on one of the holes, and the fairways and tee boxes are not in the best shapes on some of the holes. The layout for the course is a little problematic, as several holes lay side by side with little room for error, and c…

It’s a great course for starters with no expectations. For the price to keep going up, you’d expect for the quality to get a little better, but the tee boxes are almost Unplayable. They are rock solid, can’t even get a tee in the ground.

A group of us play here quite often (a minimum of two or three times a month). The course is fun and it what it is...Shorter, pretty wide open course. The one thing all of us always talk about is something that absolutely can be taken care of by the staff and they need to do it....Clean up the tee boxes. There are tons of broken/used tees on every single tee box. Staff simply needs to clean the tee boxes on a consistent basis. We are typically the first crew to tee off, so we know it is NOT accumulated tees from golfers throughout a day....We enjoy playing here and the staff is nice, but the c…

Great value, really fun layout with tons of elevation change. Only downside is a lot of the fairways are packed together, so there’s a decent chance you’ll catch a stray ball. All the golfers we encountered on the course were polite and kept decent pace of play

I’ve played this course a few times with my husband and son. And we’ve had a blast every time! Yes, there are some muddy spots and the greens are in rough shape. It’s not a fancy course, but it’s such a cool use of space and the holes are just FUN to play. Every town should have an inexpensive public course built under power lines or on old landfills. Come to have fun, don’t have country club expectations, and definitely eat whatever Mr Brown is grilling at the turn!

It wasn't my favorite place to play golf. The course conditions are not very good at all. The tee boxes are poor at best, the greens have weeds on them there is trash (beer cans) all over the place. The few areas with water (around hole two and three) smell like a literal sewer. The course is tightly packed into a small area so you will always see other golfers, which isn't a big deal. The staff are all very polite and accommodating which was nice. All in all the course provides an ok place to play golf for not a lot of money and if you keep an eye open you can leave with more golf balls then…

It seems that ownership has made the decision for years to keep the money and not reinvest into their course. $50 is wild for the greens condition and pace of play for an executive course. Greens are full of poa, starter selling his own hot dogs, no Marshall, unkept bunkers. This course is returning to the trash pile it was originally. But at least they have top tracer!!!!

My favorite driving range! The staff is so polite, they have TopTracer technology and my game is improving with that help. Love the course as well. It’s fun even for a rookie like me!

My son (6) and I just played this course for the first time. If you are an avid golfer or even only have decent expectations for courses, do not play here. The course was not in good shape (greens were horrible and some were covered in goose poop), but the customer service was worse. I can usually overlook some issues but what was most frustrating was the marshal. When I asked for a cart, I was bounced around between a young man and the marshal, as if no one wanted to get a cart. The marshal also tried to combine my tee time with the tee time in front of me. When I pointed out that the people…

Steel Canyon Golf Club is currently in an state of disrepair. The course's condition is far below what is expected for a paid round, and it does not live up to its marketed status as an executive golf course. The most critical issues include: • Hazardous Tee Boxes: Many teeing grounds are literally rock-filled, dirt-packed, and hard as cement, making it nearly impossible to tee up a ball. Some holes still rely on temporary turf mats that should have been replaced months ago. • Poor Greens: The greens are inconsistent, slow, and covered with numerous patches of sand. This, combined with an over…

What a great place for handy caps of 15 and above, it's about your short game. Also great for seniors, women and they pride themselves with juniors practicing their new talents. Course is looking good, normally can be flexible when needed for tee times.

This course has sooo much potential however the greens team seems to only keep up about half the holes. Some of the holes have a great sloping fairway while others demand distance to avoid the clay stretches. When you are on top of the landfill mound it feels like such a pretty and manicured course. When you are on the bottom and around, it feels the opposite. That being said, I really do enjoy playing here and the hi-tech range bays are great. Cost is pretty pricey for course conditions. Makes it difficult to justify coming out here when they are charging the same as some nicer courses in the…
