What People Say

In summary

Stone Dock Golf Club is praised for its well-maintained course, scenic setting along the river, and friendly, accommodating staff, including owners Jennifer and Francis, who are noted for their commitment to enhancing the club. The 9-hole course offers a good balance of challenge and accessibility, appealing to both beginners and experienced golfers, with additional amenities like a charming cafe that serves quality food. While the overall experience is positive, a few visitors mention minor issues such as the blending of fairways and rough, and occasional etiquette lapses during maintenance activities.

My mom threw my bridal shower at Stone Dock Golf Course & Cafe a couple of weeks ago (end of Sept, 2024) and it was absolutely perfect. Jennifer was very easy to work with - go with the flow and really listened to what we wanted / helped that vision come to life. The cafe space itself was very cute and exactly what we wanted! The food was great as well - we got to curate the menu based on our budget and number of people and the chef delivered the most delicious food & drinks!!

This is great dollar value and a perfect course to walk and swing the clubs. Being a 9 hole course, it has great distance from the white/blue tee boxes. Also, the course is relatively flat lending itself to a great walking experience. The fairways and rough blend together a little bit, but the greens are in great shape.

UPDATE as of 10/4/23: Course is in spectacular condition. New green complex and green-side rough on 8 changes an already tempting dog leg right into a well-balanced challenge. New tee box on 1 lets you let it rip with confidence on your first swing of the day. Constant scenic and landscaping upgrades render it the gem of the county. Always a great round at Stone Dock. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Well-maintained and always improving. Seems to be something new every time I visit. Some of the views are quite spectacular, and a lot of the shots make you think more than your average public course. Someday I'…

Had a great time playing early morning at Stone Dock. Was able to grab an early weekend tee time the day before and was very impressed by the scenery and the course. Moderate difficulty with plenty of yardage playing one in from the tips. I was surprised with just how much wildlife and activity was going on, which the owners told me was due to their all-natural course treatment system they've developed. The owners are wonderful people and were delightful people to talk to about the course. I played there about a month ago in early May when the course was in great conditions. I'll definitely st…

Came to area to visit my buddy. He recommended this course as it is low key. Really beautiful course and the staff is super nice. The owner made us lunch and it was fantastic. This is my new go-to when I visit the area.

We went for a round of golf at Stone Dock Golf Course at 12 Stone Dock Rd, High Falls, NY. It was not our first time. We like going there because the 9 hole course is well kept and very entertaining and challenging for beginners and experienced golfers alike. After our round as an added treat, we had lunch at their attractive cafe. It is light and airy and the picture I posted of the course and their outdoor seating was taken from our window in the cafe. We ate there the last time we played and it was so good we had to return. As you can see from their menus I posted, they offer lunch, dinner…

This is a local place where you will get better food at a better price than anywhere else around. You can sit on a patio looking toward the Rondout Creek, with the Catskills in front of you and Shawangunks behind. Now that Hudson Valley Restaurant Week prices are heading toward $50 and greens fees lord knows what (I don't play golf any more), this is a better deal, especially if you are local.
