In summary

Sunset Bay Golf Course is appreciated for its fun and challenging layout, set in a beautiful coastal valley that offers a peaceful and laid-back golfing experience. The course features a unique 12-hole design with well-maintained fairways and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both casual and serious golfers. However, some visitors have noted that the greens can be slow and in need of maintenance, and that the course can be challenging due to water hazards and rough areas. Despite these issues, the course is considered a great value and a worthwhile stop for those in the Coos Bay area.

A fun but challenging layout. Not a push over course. Lots of trouble lurking around if you have never played the course. The greens were slow, making firm putts a must. Course was overall in pretty good condition. If in this area again, I would play here.

Fun, short 9-hole course. Easy enough to walk but you can drive to your ball if you take a cart. Bring extra balls, there are water hazards on nearly every hole. Some aren't very obvious. Staff is really nice and the course is well maintained. Greens are fairly slow. Fog was pretty consistent the couple days I was there. Got there early on a Friday morning (they don't take tee times) and felt like I had the course to myself. Definitely worth checking out if you don't want to pay $350 to lose balls at Bandon Dunes.

Fun target golf. Only 12 holes and the greens are ok mostly, small. Extremely beautiful scenery. A delightful walk in the woods ruined by a little white ball. Lots of edge to loose balls. The staff was nice. Not many amenities... no beer or ice.. You are in a valley so the phone won't ring.

So glad we found this during our trip. The course lives up to the reviews. We lost so many golf balls (like a dozen each!). Yet we had a great time. Very fun yet challenging course. Staff was friendly and very laid back golf experience.. just what we were looking for. Will definitely make this a regular stop when back in the Coos Bay area.

This is a true Oregon coast golf course. Odd thing about it is that there are 12 holes instead of nine. Mostly flat but one has a good Hill to climb to the tee box. A rather small green on number five is very challenging. Overall, the course is in good shape and the greens are well maintained. The rough can be challenging though.

Pretty fun 12-hole course, Today was my first round in over 10 years, and this course was the perfect welcome back We'll be back soon to get revenge now that we know the course! (There are a few unforgiving dog legs, one which is a right continuous nasty one that is my new nemesis now) the course is well designed, fun and challenging (especiallywhen the greens are wet/slow). Pro (owner i think?) Is cool, Thanks!

Very nice fun course, friendly staff. Good challenging combo of long holes and a couple short. I like the tree obstacle on 8, and the hard dog leg right on 11. Where else can you play 12 for $20?

January golf, very little wind and the weather had been dry, so the course was in great shape. If it’s your first time, grab a score card so you can easily follow the 12 unique holes. No crowds and a beautiful day make for an unforgettable experience and great golf.

Definitely not worth 45 bucks! The greens are in terrible shape! Hole 10 is not even playable. No course I have ever played charges 20 bucks for cart. 18 max, and that’s for 18 holes! Literally the only reason I’m not giving this place a 1star review is that it could be a really nice executive course. It needs a lot of maintenance and then it needs to be kept up! Take care of the greens first. They’re like putting across a mine field. I would say 18 bucks plus 10 more if you want a cart would be fair. There’s probably a reason there was only 3 people golfing on a beautiful day in early Septemb…

I really liked the three additional holes that they've added to the course. It gave it a fresh and updated feel compared to the last few times that I had played it. The fairways were in really good shape, some soggy areas on the approach, but minimal influence on my round. Greens were soft and slow, however a couple of them at the far end of the course were faster and drier. They were all freshly aerated. New electric golf carts were a great addition. Local course with really reasonable prices, and contributing to a family business are all trains why I recommend and will be going again.

Beautiful coastal course in a unique valley. Fun and challenging course with lots of variety. Not far from town but you feel like you are in a very rural spot. Peaceful and friendly. We never feel pushed. Great management and course improved constantly. Strongly recommend for all levels of play.

Nice course close to Coos. Pricing for 12 holes and a cart is awesome. Great for the average player, just do not be too serious about wanting PGA level greens here as they are a bit rough. Fun open links course and great value. Each time I have played this course so far this year, which has been 4 times so far, the course has improved each time. The Greens are getting better it seems each time I have played. The fairways are also starting to firm up as well. My main recommendation now would be to improve their t-boxes, as they are very rounded, sloped, and uneven. They need some attention, rol…
