In summary

Sunset Landing Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, enjoyable layout, and well-maintained greens, with recent improvements noted in course conditions. However, several visitors have expressed concerns about the fairways being in poor condition, often citing issues with grass coverage and maintenance. While the course offers good value for the price, some guests feel that more attention is needed to improve the overall playing experience, particularly regarding the fairways and tee boxes.

Well the greens were decent... with some weeds or crabgrass in them, but haven't played here in two years and... prob won't ne back. $82 for 2 to play the worst fairways I have ever seen on a course. I asked an employee about them and he said "we water the greens manually but dont water the fairways"... I drive by this course every day. But just not gonna pay these full price grren fees prices for a mediocre maintained course. So many other choices in area that are better. The tee boxes are so hard and in need of aerating, you could barely get a tee in them. Most tee boxes the markers were a…

Great time playing 18 holes at Sunset Landing, very nice staff and friendly clientele. For the price, the experience was very pleasant. It does seem like their groundskeepers are working hard to restore each fairway to 100%, while all 18 greens are pristine. I would say that as of June 2025, the fairways are collectively at 85% grass coverage and completely playable. I’m sure by next summer it will be 100%. Can’t complain at all for paying 26 bucks to hit some range balls for 10 minutes and play a full round of good golf!

Gave it a 3 out of 5. It’s been two winters since the bad freeze but the fairways and green side areas have not been replanted or resodded. The greens were very good. We played 9 holes for $18 but definitely not worth it. I could easily feel good paying $9. I could play Colonial for roughly the same price. They need to make all the fairways ground under repair, rope them all off and replant or resod for next season. It’s a shame because the layout is pretty good and the price ok when the course is all grass.

Went to this course with the fellas over the past weekend. It was a decent experience. The staff were friendly and professional, and really made it feel welcoming. However, the course does not look like it does in the reviews I have seen. There were weeds growing on the greens, and there was dirt covering the fairway on the first couple holes. I was disappointed by the driving range, where there wasn’t a single patch of green grass to hit off of. I understand that restoration is in progress, and I hope to see the course next time with better conditions. Overall, a great price and a fun time. W…

Rented clubs and got a quick 9 in. Staff was very friendly and helped point us in the right direction for our first time there. Got burgers from the grill, they hit the spot. Course was in good condition and the greens were in great shape. Will definitely be back!

I left a poor review of this course last year because of the conditions of the grass or lack thereof due to the 2024 freeze. I played this course again in July 2025. This course has really rebounded since then. The greens are fantastic for the amount of play they get. It really is a super fun course to play for the money. Sure some of the fairways need work but I’m honestly so happy that this course has improved. The bathroom and clubhouse upgrades are really nice. I’ll be back

Played a round the other day with friends and left my Bushnell rangefinder on the cart when I left. A couple of days later I returned and they had my rangefinder in the pro shop. The staff is awesome and honest. Shot a 74 by the way. Played from the white tees that were way up so that helped. Will definitely be back.

I played at Sunset Landing this morning as a visitor from Texas. I have played municipal, public and private courses for quite a few years. Sunset landing is definitely below average. Pro Shop personnel were not friendly or very accomodating. The starter was a pleasant gentleman and informative. The greens were in very good shape. Course layout is difficult to follow because of poor signage. The fairways are in terrible shape. Not mowed and very bare (dirt) in large areas. Because of this, signs often dictate you not drive on the fairway. Tee boxes are not mowed or maintained. The same for t…

I played yesterday on 7.6 I played after church around 3:40 and I will say I had one of the most pleasant experiences playing golf in the Huntsville/Madison area that I’ve had with any other course around here. The Pro Shop employee was very kind and I had no issues. The Burger was excellent I would highly recommend! The cart boy working at the time was doing a blue collar of a job, it’s always a huge plus when the carts are clean. I played out here over a year ago and the course conditions itself have came a long way and the fairways are looking so good. 5/5 Experience I highly recommend!!!!

Decent pace 3.5 h/ 18 and greens look good. fairways don’t have irrigation thus are Bone dry and have some bare areas. Course layout is a challenge by parallel fairways. Pay close attention to signage for hole progression. Cart paths are moderately bumpy in some areas. Nestled in the 18R runway landing zone So aircraft noise can be noticeable intermittently.

Ive grown up playing this course. Its a short course but entertaining. Planes taking off and landing are great as well. That said, the highlight of this place is the food. If you play here and don't order food you're missing out. I would eat here over most restaurants.
