Vernon Hills Golf Course is appreciated for its well-maintained, challenging 9-hole layout, featuring a creek that adds interest to the play. The course is noted for its reasonable pricing and accommodating staff, with some visitors also enjoying the clubhouse amenities. However, there are multiple reports of negative interactions with certain staff members, which have impacted the overall experience for some guests.

A nice spot for a weekday morning 9-hole round. The price is reasonable and 9 holes make it less of a commitment. Occasionally, though, they don’t open right on time in the morning.

One of the guys at the counter was very rude to my elderly grandma and told her to walk a little faster to keep pace with the play?!?! Course isn’t that great either definitely do not recommend.

Hope the guy working there either finds a spouse to talk to or therapy to help him with his negative energy. He is a certified a*****e. We just started playing golf so we took longer than usual but still. He pretty much told us not to come back because we suck, but now we’re thinking about getting a membership. Chess not checkers

Terrible front desk worker. Had a tee time for 9 o clock and showed up at 9:03 due to traffic. Employee doesn’t greet us and has a sour expression on his face (semi- understandably). however his treatment of us was horrible. He seemed to hate his job and was in his 20s -40s (couldn’t tell because he was balding) and was borderline yelling at us. when we offered to skip the first whole and play through the second he said no, so we were on our way to leave the course. He chased us down, called us back and tried to force us to play through the second hole even though he told us we couldn’t 5 seco…

There is an older male employee who works in the mornings that made it impossible for many members to play here comfortably. For one year, I was patient, while he acted very racist toward some members. He speaks rudely, ignores people when we are being polite, and closes the gates even though he sees members still finishing their round. Incredibly rude and poor manners toward paying members. When I set up my new membership at another golf course, I mentioned to them why I was leaving this one and they actually said that they knew of other people who gave up playing at this course because of t…

The staff was very accommodating. The course was well maintained. The starter was an exceptional guy!!! A veteran. Acknowledged my service time. We played the course twice. Got paired with another couple for the second round. They were great. I will play here again when I am in the area. There was no pressure. Play moved along well. Felt like a family course where everyone was out to have some fun and enjoy themselves. That's The only reason I play golf. Thank you Vernon Hills!!!

The course is amazing and I give it 5 stars but this new manager is HORRIBLE and I give him a 2 at most. I used to come to the course fairly often when Jason was running the course and it was amazing, but ever since this new guy Kevin came in, the family like atmosphere dissipated. The employees don’t even seem like they have fun working there.

Vernon Hills Golf Course is a 9-Hole course. It is for golfers that want to play some golf. We play in a senior league there, it's challenging, and easy to get in and out. There are a few holes with a creek running through them with lots of brush on both sides of the water. Both the fairways and greens are in great shape. We play early there, so I haven't had the opportunity to check out their menu. It's a nice challenging layout.

The older gentleman who checked me in was rude and confrontational. He has no business being the first person you talk to. I brought my son, my son in law, my nephew, and my daughter’s boyfriend. They are all under 25. He told us ‘if we play as a 5some we will kick you off the course!’. No good morning, no welcome, that was his lead in. I didn’t respond just went out and played. Course is very poorly maintained, not much being spent on turf management. I won’t be back as the treatment by the man at the desk was unwarranted and there are better places to play and be treated well. Vernon Hills-…

I played in winter but conditions were still not too bad. I see some other negative comments about the pro shop workers and I can’t exactly disagree. I booked through the GolfNow app which stated that a cart was included (I was even charged an additional fee for a cart). When I showed up the guy in the pro shop told me the carts are not out for the season yet and “they don’t update their stuff” referring to GolfNow. I was disappointed by the lack of a cart, but the explanation and his overall attitude when telling me about it are where they are losing stars in my review.

Great course, specially for the price. The river running down the middle makes it super fun and interesting to play certain shots. Hole 7 is one of my favorite holes, it's a par 3 over a pond. Make sure to bring "water balls" to hit a couple for fun.

If I never come back here it’s because of the starter that worked july4th. My mom and I got profiled for being women and were very rudely told we need to tee off closer because they are booked up for the day and he assumed we would take too long. Funny thing is I hit my first ball exactly where the gentleman we were playing with hit his and he was not scolded at by the starter. This man was so rude it immediately stressed me out
