Located in my wife's hometown of Anaconda where Marcus Daley and the Anaconda Copper Co. ran a Smelter operation for over 100 years and provided the bulk of the Copper used to electrify the U. S. and as evidenced by the huge black sand slag piles east of the Anaconda town limits and at the base of the Washoe Smelter operation. On the downside, vast quantities of arsenic and lead were unleashed on the land between Anaconda and Butte where the Copper ore was mined.
