In summary

Ausable Club is highly praised for its beautiful grounds, well-maintained trails, and stunning natural scenery, making it a popular starting point for hikers accessing the High Peaks. The club offers a range of amenities such as golf, tennis, and dining, contributing to a relaxing atmosphere. However, some visitors express frustration with limited parking and the need to share private roads with club vehicles, and a few find the exclusivity and rules regarding access to certain areas off-putting.

Beautiful!! Although i did not stay at the club itself we were able to access the High Peaks we were hiking from this area. The grounds are amazing and very well kept!! Thank you Ausable Club for sharing your grounds and allowing all of us Hikers to access here!!

If you have friends or family who have a connection to stop and stay here, DO IT ! Similar to the film Dirty Dancing, this resort provides all of the things you want in a vacation. Golf, hiking, boating, tennis, great food, relaxation away from electronics and beautiful scenery.

Leg no. 1. I have zero use for the golf course or club---I come here to get away from all that and get into the wilderness but at least the state has negotiated public easements to traverse the property to get on the trails. Last here 8/94, doing a multi-day traverse with my backpacking partner Greg. Back then the house was painted white (see pic) and the "guard shack" at the reserve entrance was tiny, green, and barely a shack---looks about four times as large these days. This formed Leg #1 of our big loop; following Trail #28 along the Ausable River E to W. Then hitting Trail #33, Leg #2 WNW…

Allowing public use of the land is very much appreciated. The trail maintenance, especially the bridges all along lake road is superb. Thanks, guys!

The new reservation system is I my opinion long over due. The staff at both the parking lot and the main gate were very friendly and helpful. A shout out to Neil at the main gate! As usual the trails are very well maintained and definitely not crowded.

Beautiful place to start your hikes. Theres parking spaces for hikers just a little bit off the grounds. Don't forget to respect the golfers and the clubs rules while you're walking on the grounds towards the trails! No dogs or bikes allowed.

Wow! I get to rate a private and exclusive club. Why would they care what Joey Bag-O- Donuts thinks of their club. Truly I'm flattered. Odd that I was asked to do a review. Just a WARNING don't even think of leaving a hiking trail. If you think you can take a refreshing dip in a mountain stream, you can't, it is private property. The armed guard at the gatehouse is a nice friendly and welcoming hello. Enjoy

As a hiker, there is insufficient parking here (so you often have to park far up the road) and then you have to walk miles along this club's private gravel road, which you share with the club's cars/buses. The hiking is beautiful, but it is really annoying to get to, because the club is "in the way".

Thankful to the club that they let public access the high peaks and Colvin range trails from here. Was walking out and told in no uncertain terms by a lady in a brand new range rover that I'm sure has never set foot in the mountains that I was not allowed to show off any pictures I took while on 'her' land and furthermore should be wary of what pictures I took. Old white people club.
