In summary

Craig Wood Golf Club is praised for its scenic views, challenging layout, and well-maintained greens, offering a good value for golfers in the Lake Placid area. The staff is frequently highlighted as friendly and accommodating, and the amenities, including a well-stocked pro shop and a restaurant, receive positive mentions. However, some visitors note issues with course markings, rugged cart paths, and occasional slow pace of play.

Very very scenic, what a beautiful location. Was almost empty Sunday at 1:00, so was able to play alone at whatever pace I would have liked. Greens were fairly slow but rolled true, and with significant undulations, making them pretty challenging. Rough was thick and difficult in spots. Could use some better course marking regarding which side of each hole carts should stay and where the next tee is. Very bumpy terrain everywhere and with few smooth cart paths, but this added to the rustic ADK feeling in my opinion. Really enjoyed the afternoon playing here.

Craig Wood is a very scenic and challenging golf course near Lake Placid, NY. The conditions at the course are very good, especially the greens. It is also one of the more affordable courses in the Lake Placid area. The course was named after Masters and US Open winner Craig Wood. If you're playing it for the first time, it is pretty clear that local knowledge is necessary as the greens are hilly and have some speed. It is definitely hard to chip and putt downhill at this course. For course design, the front nine is fairly wide open and the back nine is a little bit tighter. The staff is frien…

Played in late August .... with little rainfall, the fairways are rock hard. But the layout is nicely designed. The greens are in great shape, and they roll very true. The green as also very very challenging. Very impressive in many ways. The club carts are powerful and you want one! The people there are great and the value is fantastic. go play!

Course is in nice shape, greens rolled well and the fairways had good grass in them. The rough was a bear, very tall and extremely thick. Great track for the $ , walkable for the healthiest of golfers or a cart is a nice for the rest.

Excellent course and the people are so friendly and accommodating. Great views and challenging greens. They obviously care about maintenance and keep everything pristine. Prices are affordable with carts that actually are in great shape.

Been playing here on a yearly golf trip for years. This is the best shape I’ve seen in almost all those years. I work on a top rated golf course in SC and the greens Here are better. They are fast, smooth and true. The staff is top notch. They are helpful and welcoming. Overall this week has been one of my favorite overall golf experiences. Thanks Pro, staff and especially the maintenance staff.
