In summary

Westport Country Club is frequently praised for its challenging and well-designed course layout, featuring gentle hills and scenic views, with many appreciating the immaculate greens and friendly staff. The clubhouse and dining experience receive high marks for quality and service, adding to the overall appeal. However, some visitors have noted issues with course maintenance, such as fairway conditions and sand traps, and there are occasional concerns about management's customer service approach.

As a pro golfer, this place has exceeded my expectations. The layout and design are great. Course is in very good shape especially the greens and good length from the back tees. Beautiful property, can’t wait to play again.

I may not have said this the first time I visited as I shot one of the worst scores I have in a long time (95), very challenging, but mostly by length, it is over 7000 yards from the tips, and by elevation. You have to play smart because if you break out a driver all the time you may end up with some pretty rough lies to get back up to the greens. The greens could use a little work, but it had been quite dry the few days before going the second time, I did do a bit better as I played smarter this time (83). Definitely a course with checking out. The clubhouse is also in excellent shape with ve…

Old golf course with an incredible layout. If you really break a 100 here you had a good day. It is challenging and you have to make shots. When you get a few pars or Birdies here, you earned them. Great price $45 w/cart and charming old taproom where you can get a decent lunch at reasonable price.

The lady that runs the pro shop needs to be replaced. No professionalism at all. The golf course is OK but the management could definitely use some improvement. Her phone etiquette leaves much to be desired. After reading reviews, I’m not the first one who feels this way. Maybe she owns the place. Even if that is the case,it is no way to run a public business.

I’ve always enjoyed trying to play at least one round at Westport each season, but yesterday I had a terrible experience due to one extremely rude manager, whom I’ve learned is named Robin. A friend and I showed up around 3:00 to play 18 holes. On hole 2 it was clear that a storm was starting to roll in, and towards the end of the hole there was some distant lightning and it started to rain, so we drove over to a wooded area and took some shelter. We checked the radar on our phones and could see we were just catching the southern tip of the storm system and that it would be brief. There was a…

The restaurant/bar is a classic. Don't pass it up. The course was in wonderful shape. Fairways, green, lush. Greens even better. They were rolling great and you could hit shots to the pin. First time playing here today and we just had fun out there.

Very nice dining experience. Sirloin was best I ever had, very juicy. Wife had salmon, cooked perfectly. Our guests thought their meals were great also. Peanut butter brownie explosion was incredible! Great, friendly service. Could've rated it a 6!

We decided to go check in out and eat while in town. The chef is amazing. It was burger night so my expectations were low. I ordered the blue cheese and bacon burger. It was the best burger and frys have ever eaten. The presentation was top notch. I would give it a 10 out of 10. We decided to go back the next day and play golf. The greens are in perfect condition and the scenery is to die for. Apple trees full of apples. I can’t say enough about how helpful and friendly everyone working there is. The pro shop was super friendly. We plan on another round tonight.

We only played the front 9, because a storm took down a lot of trees on the back, and only the front is playable right now. $35 with a cart for 9 holes. The course layout is good - this was probably a great place to play back when it was designed. But - the course not in the best shape, and could really use some better maintenance. - The sand traps have some sort of sandy material, but it's not sand like you expect. - The greens (2022) are not in good shape - they have lots of splotches of non-grass areas, so it's a little bit like putting on the moon. - The fairways don't really have good g…

A bit disappointed here. It has gone downhill since I played it 20 years ago. Greens are nice but fairways need TLC. Staff was friendly and priced reasonably.

I have played golf all over the world, and throughout much of the Adirondacks, and I love playing Westport Golf. The layout is challenging, with gentle hills, streams, blind dogleg fairways, and immaculate greens. And I like that it is usually uncrowded, so a sub-4-minute round is the norm. I first played the course 20 years ago and it seems to get better (and somehow apparently longer) every year. With the clubhouse open full time once again in 2022, I can't wait to play this season. While golf is my passion, the Adirondack bar and dining room are a welcome place to end the day.

Great find! The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our lobster rolls 😎 we weren't golfing today, but the course looked great and the views are awesome.
