In summary

Black Bear Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful and well-maintained landscape, challenging layout with narrow fairways, and friendly staff. The course offers a scenic and remote setting, with reasonable green fees and a well-stocked pro shop. However, some visitors have noted issues with the condition of tee boxes, slow pace of play due to non-golfers, and mixed experiences with the food quality at the clubhouse and buffet.

Was very surprised on the beauty and remoteness - excellent condition and great staff. Top 3 Public course for the Duluth area. Update August 2022 Played again - condition on the course is a little rougher. tee boxes very beat up and not as well taken care of. Probably a 3.5 star rating. The beauty of the course is still outstanding. Clubhouse is good, staff very friendly. Green fees are reasonable. Breakfast food is poor - frozen packaged and microwaved.

Beautiful course. Played there yesterday in late October and the course was in great shape. Pro shop and grounds staff were all very friendly. Greens fees were very reasonable. I will definitely play there again.

First time at the course. You can tell staff takes a lot of pride in the place. The front desk people were very thorough in course description. The course was green and gorgeous. Again can tell the staff really takes good care of this place. Bonus points for seeing an actual black bear on whole 8. Can’t wait to come back.

Black bear GC is a fairly challenging wilderness course with skinny fairways and tough approach shots. Staff are friendly. The course is well worth the price and I will be playing here again.

Great shape and very inexpensive for how good it is. Only lost 9 balls in the water and trees. 😂

This is a great course. Challenging but fun, plenty of trees, if you can stay near the fairway it's picturesque and fun. Military discount is not eligible if booking a "play & stay". Casino was clean, buffet has a waiting list. Everyone, guests and employees were friendly and helpful.

Quite the attitude at the food counter after spending 90 dollars to golf there. Sorry for wanting to give you more money. Will not be returning here.

The only Casino in Minnesota that didn't use COVID as an excuse to get rid of their buffet!! Black bear is the best. Sea food buffet night is back!!!

Really nice course with that classic Up North feel but at a price point that is far more attractive than a lot of it's rivals.

I booked an 18-hole tee time five days in advance. Two days prior to the reservation, I called to inquire about adding an additional player to my group. During that call, I was informed that my booking had only been made for 9 holes - despite my original request for 18. I was told this was due to a mistake made by the attendant who initially took my reservation. Unfortunately, the staff was unwilling to offer any solution or make adjustments to accommodate the original request. As a result, I had to cancel the tee time altogether. Very disappointing experience, and I hope the course improves i…

A challenging and scenic golf course is waiting for you... The fairways are a bit tight but if you can keep the ball in play then you will have no trouble... A definate course to okay in Northern Minnesota...
