This course is always of course I look forward to playing when I get the chance. My UAW union assessment dollars help build it in the '80s. Staff is friendly, course in pretty good condition after aeration a couple weeks ago.

Course is absolutely stunning. Great layout and visually impressive. We played on a day with no rain, but the air was wet and unfortunately the greens were not at all enjoyable. Had been recently punched(we weren't aware) and to compound that were soaking wet from tee off to finish. Surprised a course of such quality, didn't dry the greens at the beginning of the day, which would have helped minimize the experience of them being punched. Clubhouse attendant seemed completely indifferent to being at work, but starter was fantastic. She really helped improve the vibe. Course is 5 hours from ho…

Beautifully maintained course with friendly staff. The course is difficult and plays long. Worth every second spent though!

What can i say but wow! Staff was incredible and the clubhouse was small but really nice. The food we had after our round was nothing short of amazing. After all that the golf course was so unique in its challenges and laid out so well it so much fun to play even with some high scores.

Went golfing here on 8/23/24. Couse was in great shape. Tee boxes were nice, and the greens were well kept. Pace a play was HORRIBLE, though finishing the round at just under 5.5 hours. We were stuck behind a group of six.

Beautiful course with a friendly and welcoming staff. Would highly recommend playing if you're in the area, or up for a drive. Possibly one of the best values for a course in Michigan. The entire course was in a amazing shape from greens, to fairways to bunkers and rough. It is a tough, tight course built in the woods, but despite the challenge and my mediocre golf game, still incredibly enjoyable to play.

Based on value alone, $60 is a steal. It was the Tuesday special. Fairways and greens in great shape, bunkers had good sand. Teeboxes were beat and the back ones especially needed alot of work. The course was much better 5 years ago. Edit - played Hawks Eye at Shanty Creek the following day. $105 greens fee. Black Lake GC is much better.

Played on 7/31/25 and the course was in good shape. Pace of play was absolutely horrible. The front 9 took around 2 hours and 45 minutes. On #10 a ranger finally came up to us and said there was nothing that could be done to speed play up and told us we could skip holes and come back and play them later. We ended up skipping 4 holes and still playing a 4.5 hour round.

Great place! The course is beautiful. The greens are well maintained. The club house and staff were nice with the exception of the bar tender. She was slow and inefficient. While getting my drinks, she paused to help another couple eating at the bar instead of finishing with my order. Overall, we would return but will be aware when stopping at the turn and utilize calling ahead when buying drinks/food.
