Blackwood Golf Course

My son and I played Blackwood today and had an incredible experience. The morning started with a frost delay that backed up several groups. I figured we would be there all day. However an employee came out and offered us the opportunity to start on back nine. We jumped at the chance and played the round in less than 4 hours. The course is in impeccable shape. My girlfriend and I traveled home to play golf with some hometown friends on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. Our drive was about 7-8 hours, as we now reside in Massachusetts. We had a group of four players scheduled to tee off, but needed a third cart because my girlfriend wanted to come along as a spectator and get introduced to the sport of golf. We politely explained the situation to the woman at the front desk and offered to pay whatever was necessary to use a third cart. She immediately shut us down, saying it was against course policy. Decent course with tes boxes and greens in good shape. A few Interesting holes, as well. I have a big concern about their $10 upcharge for a single golfers who take a cart. This is above the $12 standard cart fee. Lost my business, pal.

I've played here regularly for years, but the experience has declined recently. Twilight rates were removed, solo players are charged extra, and staff interactions have become increasingly rude. Despite being a great local course, it's getting harder to justify returning given how poorly local players are treated.

What has happened to this course and staff? Used to be one of my favorite to play a round - always in good shape, fairly priced and nice folks. Not anymore. A round of 18 with a cart for my son and I was $130...tee boxes in horrible shape...greens in even worse shape - full of ball marks, combo of weeds/burnt out spots/random aeration made the greens a hot mess. The par 3 11th...unplayable thanks to the sprinklers running. Nobody out there to do anything about it, and nobody around for us to talk to once we finished up. Really disappointing day. We'll be sure not to make this mistake again.

Great local course. Everything is in pretty good shape. Pay attention to the rules and trash cans and things will last longer!

I am a beginner and this course offers enough of a challenge. There are only 2 water holes and 2 holes where the flag is not visible from the tee. An accomplished golfer would most likely not consider it a challenge. The greens are in excellent shape.

Getting back into the sport after a 10+ year hiatus (due to Crohn's disease). I am just looking at tee times and prices of all local courses. Well, I see that if you are a single player, you can't reserve online (you must call day of) and for being a single player (not in a 2-some, 3-some or 4-some) they charge you $10 more to play! Yeah, I'm out. Why should I have to pay more money for playing alone? 🤔 Literally no other local course does this!

First time there and was really impressed. Course was perfect, greens rolled beautifully. Nice staff. Going again next Thursday. Definitely worth the money.

This is the WORST golf course I have ever played. The lady at the front was extremely rude and aggressive. I don’t recommend anyone ever comes here even if you aren’t good at golf. Course sucks can’t get carts.

The staff at this golf course is so disrespectful and unprofessional. The guy working the pro shop refused someone from our group and raised his voice/pointed in his face for simply asking if spectators were aloud since there wasn’t too many other people golfing (there was maybe four other cars in the parking lot if that) My boyfriend and I went into pay and ask about the fee for spectators (as we were willing to pay any fees) and the first thing out of his mouth as nothing but attitude, no greeting or anything and kept pointing to a sign (you don’t see the sign stating ‘no spectators’ until y…

Sorry, but Not a well staffed place! Course is cool. I went with my two buddies and we left at the 15th hole. No starter. They allowed a group of 5 to play in front of us, after we called and said we are waiting 10-15 mins in between holes, they did nothing. If you want to play a round for 6 hours, this is the place to go. Would not reccomend.
