In summary

Briar Leaf Golf Club receives praise for its enjoyable layout, featuring a variety of holes and elevation changes, as well as its friendly staff and well-maintained greens. The attached restaurant is also highlighted for its quality food and service. However, some visitors express concerns about inconsistent course maintenance, particularly with fairways and tee boxes, and the inconvenience of sprinklers affecting play. Additionally, the booking process could be improved to enhance the overall experience.

The course has potential but they are sadly far behind the maintenance curve. They are still hand setting water through the day and as a result some of the course is baked and some parts are suffering from over watering. We spent much of the day dodging sprinklers. The bright spot is the food. The shack at the turn has some of the best hot dogs on a golf course. Rumor is the dinner house is excellent. Unfortunately the golf is not worth the green fees.

This course is in very poor shape. The fairways are an inch and half and rock hard, the greens are also rock hard, shaggy and slow, and the greens and tee boxes are full of dead spots, weeds and crabgrass. Worst I have ever seen it, very disappointed considering the cost.

Enjoyable outing. You will lose a few and find a few. Some fun holes. Putting was tough. Quaint and quiet.

First time playing Briar Leaf and had an enjoyable early morning round. Tough but fair layout, lots of mature trees throughout the course. Back 9 has some elevation changes, particularly #12 with a great elevated tee shot. Defining characteristic are the small-ish greens which were in great shape. Had to dodge a few fairway sprinklers throughout the round, but they did not interfere with our enjoyment of the course. Will definitely be back!

Disappointed with the Current Course Conditions I’ve played Briar Leaf in the past and had great experiences, but unfortunately, the course has really declined. The greens were soft and spongey, making putting unpredictable. Tee boxes looked unkept and were in need of a proper cut. The rough was way too high for a course like this, it felt more punishing than challenging. One of the most frustrating parts was that workers were out cutting grass in the middle of the day while groups were on the course. It was distracting and made play feel rushed and disorganized. This used to be a reliable a…

What a great track!!! Came up from Columbus and I was leery because it was so much less expensive then my local courses but was blown away by the quality, condition and service. Will recommend to everyone

My dad and I golf here a few times a year. I love this course for its layout, especially that par 3 on the front 9 with the island green. I lose a lot of balls there but I get a little better each time. The course is well maintained and beautiful. No complaints here. Friendly staff. I have yet to try the restaurant attached but one day will.

Played course for the first time today. Was very impressed with the layout. Not a bangers course. Greens a little slow and some areas heavy in clover but would definitely play the course again. Staff very friendly.

This course is such great value! Prbly one of my favorite courses in Laporte. Greens played fairly true. Tee boxes were in pretty good shape. It was annoying that some of the tee boxes were at a slope up hill or down hill or had a big dip in the middle. Am I wrong by thinking tee boxes should be flat. Overall I’ll play this course again. Great bang for your buck! It would be nice to have water stationed throughout the course! It’s definitely rough not having water accessible besides at the turn. Go check this place out def worth it!

Played Briar Leaf for the first time today. Nice variety of holes. Nice variety of tees for shorter and longer hitters. Back nine is really pretty cool terrain and it's used well. Front nine is more like a park course although 6-8 are memorable as well.

Pretty nice for the price with some unique holes. How they don’t have online booking for tee times is baffling. You have send a message with a “desired time” and then they get back to you. Not ideal when you want to see all tee times available for a day and get a feel for how crowded it’s going to be. Please fix this.

Played here many times, but, most recent visit was just to hit a bucket of balls. Course looked great and greens seemed to be in good condition. Used to be a hidden gem, but, now I realize I need to book ahead. Have fun and hit 'em straight.
