In summary

Canal Shores Golf Course is praised for its scenic and unique layout along the North Shore Channel, offering a mix of par 3 holes and a community-friendly atmosphere. The recent renovations have improved the course condition, with fast greens and a distinctive putter-only hole near the Baha'i Temple. However, some visitors have noted issues with slow pace of play and service inconsistencies, as well as concerns about the value relative to the cost.

The Canal is the most beautiful course for playing golf with family and friends. The greens are very fast and angled, resembling those at the Masters at Augusta National. I hope they add caddies to make the game of golf more exciting. The most exciting thing is walking between houses and cars. The train is a unique experience. Congratulations, you automatically deserve 5 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Serg Flowers.

The Evans is my favorite local course. Decent pace, approachable greens, and an endless amount of fun. Come make some donations to the canal!

What a cool little track pitched on the banks of the north shore canal. 18 legit holes (most par 3) a golfer must traverse the many different yardage and green variations. A must visit for anyone who likes golf or exciting experiences not found anywhere else!

The updated course is a fast, fun round of golf. We played 12 and finished in under 2 hours. I'll definitely be back. The only thing to watch out for is walkers, especially on 12 where there's a bit of a blind tee shot.

Friendly communal golf course where no matter how bad you may be you do not feel the pressure to finish the hole faster. The golf course also doubles as a park and there are plenty of friendly people walking their dogs, going for a run, or simply enjoying the day. There are no par 5 but there are a couple 300 yard holes.

They did a great job with the renovation. While only 12 holes are open, it’s a dramatic improvement - the grass, greens, and tee boxes are vastly improved. Also, the 7th hole which is putting only with the Bahai Temple in the background is awesome and super unique. However, the course is consistently slow to play (as of June 2025). The group ahead of us was 25 minutes late to their tee time and still allowed to tee off. Completely unacceptable how that’s allowed to happen.

Great show but the VIP area was a little too big, GA area started a little too far from the stage

As I golf course I can’t really say, but it is a nice place to walk dogs and bird watch. Make sure to keep dogs off the course when people are playing and clean up!

Nice community golf. Par 60, challenging enough, in the middle of Evanston and Wilmette. Enjoying my time their each time! American Legion post 42 welcome you for a drink after your game!

Absolutely love the renovation here!! The course knows who they are and they’ve done a great job of cleaning everything up. Perfect place to play once a month if you play every weekend and are looking for something different that’s still close to the city

While the course was pleasant, and the greens were well-maintained, I found the overall experience did not justify the $50 fee. Comparable rounds at Wilmette Golf Club or Sunset Valley Golf Club offer superior quality for a similar price. I would recommend either reducing the cost of play or incorporating a youth-on-course program to enhance the value and attract a broader clientele.

Great community golf course. Short but not easy. With the course renovation, it has become even more iconic. A wonderful course. Absolutely love it. The putter only hole going toward the Baha'i temple is genius. The first tee program is fantastic. Get a young caddy in training for free except for tip
