Carthage Municipal Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, appealing layout, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice among local golfers. The course is known for its lush greens and offers a mix of challenging and easier holes suitable for various skill levels. The course is in great condition. HOWEVER, The clubhouse/owner allows the members to run the pace of play. We had a terrible experience when the Marshall interrupted our game twice. We finished 18 holes in 4 hrs and 30 minutes. PGA pace of play is 18 in 4:20 minutes. The clubhouse claims the phone was ringing off the hook and we were holding up the course. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

Always in excellent shape! The grounds crew does a great job. The range is one of the best in the area, and the staff is wonderful. It is a busy golf course, so be sure to make a tee time. However, the course difficulty is not super high, so the field generally plays a good pace. It's a great walking course as well.

Carthage is always a fun course to play! It's probably one of my favorites out of the local courses, the grounds are always well maintained, greens are always good and the carts are nice and comfortable seats. They seems to care about the game and growing it as a sport and want to get kids involved and playing. Im definitely checking into their junior pga for my kids.

After reading some of the reviews, it all makes sense. I would encourage you to look elsewhere if you are just the casual golfer that may take a little longer than the average. We paid for 18 but left after 10 after being told that we need to pick up the pace. At that point we had only let one team play through, which was back around 3-4, which was no problem since they were driving to the green as we were finishing up. We had no one else behind us the rest of the day, but apparently the club house still had to make a point that we were not fast enough for their liking. Maybe they can take the…

Beautiful course. Great maintenance. Easy to walk on most anytime. Good that you can bring your own alcohol. Carts clean and in good condition. It would be nice to grab a burger or hotdog at the turn. Other than that, very enjoyable rounds of golf.

Called 2 weeks in advance for a tee time. I wanted the 1st tee time available. The guy said we open at 1100 am. So I got the 1100 am tee time showed up at 1010 am and he said they opened at 630am and that I wouldn't tee off till 1145 or 1200. And that there were no carts available. One of my group of 4 drove 45 minutes. This happened on May 27th. Not happy with the way this course is managed.

Course was in decent shape with how rough the summer has been this year and the little amount of rain we have received. The only real issue we had was they were cutting the greens still at 11am, which slowed down pace of play and on one of the holes the grounds keeper proceeded to cut the grass as we were approaching the green, pulled the flag and made us wait almost 20 minutes in the fairway... Didn't even apologize as he drove off. One of the worst showings of etiquette on a golf course I have ever experienced.

This is the worst golf course in the area on etiquette. The 5some behind us kept hitting balls into our group so on #10 I picked up his ball as it rolled 10 yards by us.I waved at him and told him I had his ball and would gladly return it if he would apologize for hitting into us. He refused and threatened to call the Pro shop which he did. Your pro shop guy came out and I told him my story and he told me the 17 year old didn't see us even though he had just played 9 holes behind us. He refused to ask for the apology. Your pro shop guy should have handled the situation better but failed misera…

For the price, Carthage is one of the best places to play, in the area. The greens are always in great condition, and roll true. It is a great layout, which offers a good mix of easier, and more challenging holes. Whatever your skill level may be, you will have a good time. There is a nice putting green, and chipping area, but unfortunately, there isn't a driving range.
