In summary

China Lake Golf Course receives praise for its classic 1950s design layout, friendly and efficient staff, and the improvements made to the course conditions. However, the course faces challenges such as being reduced to nine holes, maintenance issues with dry fairways, and the presence of jack rabbits affecting the greens. While some visitors appreciate the on-site dining options and customer service, others express concerns about the course's upkeep and accessibility.

Great price if you have base access, that being said the greens are seasonal. Would be nice if they had 18 holes as an option as it looks like they have in the past

The only game in town, literally. Weedy and lots of brown patches. Greens seem ok. Prices aren't too bad though. Revised review: The course is vastly improved as they are watering a lot more. Downside is it is only nine holes now. Revised again: Must have base access. Not open to the general public.

This course was once excellent for being in a desert environment. Back 9 is closed and probably will never re-open. Back 9 was the most challenging and had the characteristics of a great course. Greens are now Bermuda which is one positive following a massive 7.1 quake that wiped out all watering for weeks. Course crews don't work weekends so fairways and greens aren't mowed during weekend. Good luck putting. Fees are still ~$37 to $39 for 18. Mulligans still has wonderful food so there is one other plus.

There are some solid positives and some major short and long term negatives. Positives: Classic 1950's design layout with tiny greens and small bunkers. Friendly, efficient staff. Negatives: The greens and the fairways are covered in jack rabbit poop. The greens and fairways have been eaten down by jack rabbits. The long term consequences will be a million dollars to restore the course AND they will have to fence it. Or... just fence it and keep the course in good condition. Great layout. Go play.

Ordered breakfast bowl online this morning in under five minutes. Yummy, home fries topped with scrambled eggs, sausage, and cheese. Will add pic next time.

Fairways are dry and almost dead. Greens are fast with no reaction from putts. Course has no water points to use throughout the course and course needs work. GPS on carts is a PLUS!!!

Overpriced for what is offered. Carts usually die half way through the course. It is not kept up very well. One of the greens on the back 9 hasn't been playable for almost a year. Disappointing.

Best conditions I've seen in the 22 years I've lived in RC. Only the front 9 but better than nothing.
