In summary

Marine Memorial Golf Course offers a challenging layout with narrow fairways and well-kept greens, providing a decent golfing experience, especially for a military base. The staff is noted for being polite and courteous, and the pro shop is clean and well-organized. However, many visitors have expressed concerns about the course's maintenance, citing overgrown fairways and tee boxes, as well as issues with equipment and general upkeep, which detracts from the overall experience.

I gave this course 2 stars. It’s a good course, nine holes. Fairways narrow so you have to have good shots. and it’s a good challenge. The only issue is the maintenance for the fairways is bad and so is the greens. If they had someone who really could take care of the place. It would be a decent golf course. I did play 18 holes so I went around twice and $70 bucks was not worth it. You literally were looking for your ball in the fairway. That’s how bad the cut was. I mean it’s a marine base have a few of them come out that know what a golf course should look like, or hire someone who cares. Th…

This course is in a terrible state. Whoever is in charge of this has know Idea what they are doing. The rental clubs are complete garbage and anyone with even a little knowledge could have done better for the cost. Do not recommend save your money and time. The ladies were nice.

May be the 1st 5 star in a long time and I am giving this because recently they started putting the fairways and maintaining the greens. Its actually playable now. Ill update if things change

Hard to say anything negative for a military base the course is decent especially considering it's an oasis in the middle of the sand The greens are well kept The fairways are rougher than they should be but considering the environment not bad.

Staff was polite and courteous. Not sure if there has been a funds cut, but the course has gone down. The grass looks like is hasn't been cut in the middle of every fairway for weeks. 1 foot tall grass through half of the course.

Today I played the Barstow Marine Golf Course “Tees and Trees”. This is one of the worst kept military courses I have ever played. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were overgrown, some more than others. I lost two balls in the middle of the fairways on two separate holes because the grass was to tall. There was trash laying around everywhere on the ground. Some signs for hole yardages weren’t even secure, just laying on the ground. Some tee boxes did not even have markers. The sprinkler system was on on several holes to include the green on 3 and 5 as I was trying to putt. This was also the…

This is a very unkept, ragged, overpriced golf course. Played there today. The grass was long all over. Tee box’s were overgrown as well as the greens. For the quality of the course, 30$ to play a wrap around nine hole course in that condition is ridiculous. Do not recommend this place and will not return. Hard to believe this is a military course since it’s not taken care of.

Maybe I will give it another try. I know these comments below are may e a year old, but that is what is was like when they let one of the managers go who was always out on the course working with the crews. Gave it another try and wae told that lawnmower were broke and tall grass everywhere, even in the fairways. Not sure why Camp Pendleton can't keep up the quality from years ago. Not a ure if I want to keep the 3 Stars or drop down to 2.

For a cheap bucket of balls it's decent enough. The range needs some kind of shade, but the course is fun enough. Worth a quick $10 for a bucket

Decent course, greens are in decent shape and play differently. Fairways are in ok shape, patchy spots throughout. Wind rips through on gusty days, so beware.
