In summary

De Laveaga Golf Course is appreciated for its challenging layout, scenic views, and welcoming staff, offering a rewarding experience for both amateur and seasoned golfers. The course is set in a beautiful location with a well-maintained driving range and a pleasant clubhouse atmosphere. However, some visitors have noted issues with course maintenance, particularly concerning the tee boxes and fairways, and a few have experienced problems with golf carts and overall course upkeep.

Lush green course, friendly players and club house staff. Nice shaded parking & patio sundecks. Big patio deck, off bar, over looks the 18th ⛳ hole.

From the winery-style entrance and sweeping mountain views to fairways that challenge without breaking your spirit, this course is a unique blend of beauty and test.

Don’t get me wrong, I like DeLaveaga. The course is fun and challenging with elevation changes throughout. The back nine is a test of placement with tree lined corridors and narrow fairways. The problem is this course isn’t maintained like it used to be. Crabgrass or dead grass shouldn’t be within range of the tee shot. Fairway bunkers have weeds thriving. This level of neglect shouldn’t be acceptable even for a muni course. DeLaveaga is such a great layout and could be wonderful with more attention from the groundskeeping crew.

Golf course was in rough shape considering the price. I was given a cart with a dead battery and the pro shop refused to offer a refund on the cart. Had to get out and push the cart up the hills on the back 9 to finish my round.

This place was a real treat, lots of challenge but still fair. I need to play it again as I now know where not to hit it on every hole 😅. Seriously though the course is in great shape, driving range and putting greens were nice and staff was very helpful. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 were the tee boxes. Every one was quite thrashed and uneven, making driving extra difficult. Which was odd because the rest of the course was in tip-top shape, especially for Novemeber. Please don't let that keep you from visiting though. I will be back for Round 2!

Lots of hundreds years old BIG BIG TREES, on both sides of fairways, so you really have to get your balls in the middle of fairways, otherwise those trees will block your next shot badly. The back 9 is a lot more fun, up and down hills, ditch in the middle of the fairways, and I like Hole 13 the most, especially the way they set up the green in between the trees, plus the sunset, just amazing.

The course was in good condition. Rough grass is still a little high (if you don’t hit it on the fairway you will most definitely lose your ball). Only bad part was there was no cart girl, and no snack bar open. I was looking forward to having a few drinks like a Red Bull or a Gatorade. Course was 3/5 amenities 2/5 pro shop was nice so that’s a plus. Green fees are reasonable at 60ish bucks.

A really nice layout. Tricky but not overly punishing. Fairways are in good condition. Some tee boxes need some work. Good food at the bar / restaurant. We ordered food at the turn and they were nice enough to deliver at the course.

A beautiful day but what a bust golf wise. Tee box conditions are terrible - this is basic! The greens are probably the best part and they are average at best. Landing in the fairways rarely guaranteed a good lie. I paid $90 and drove from mountain view so there was traffic after my nearly 5 hour round. I should have been charged $60 max for this course. Won’t be back.

I played Delaveaga Golf Course in Santa Cruz recently, and I can honestly say it was the worst golf experience I’ve ever had. The course was horribly maintained from start to finish. You couldn’t distinguish the tee box from the fairway, and the fairway from the rough—everything looked like one big patch of neglected grass. For a course with this kind of green fee, the conditions were completely unacceptable. It felt like no one had taken care of the place in months. Every shot felt like guesswork because there was zero visual definition anywhere on the course. I’ve played plenty of municipa…

Just a great public golf course… designed to challenge the amateur golfer 🏌️‍♂️ & best undertaken with a keen knowledge that wayward shots will often disappear ( unrecoverable) into the forested-side ravines , hillocks, & other undesirable circumstances… but for those ready to employ some basic course management shots… will love the whole experience!

Challenging but nice course. Bunkers are improving. Staff from the range and range bar to the pro shop and restaurant are amazing. If you're a beginner golfer bring extra golf balls.
