Desert Pines Golf Club

We liked this course a lot. It offered a fun but challenging round. This course is a short course, did not take driver off the tee on any hole, but the fairways are narrow with bunkers and undulation. Are round was during winter, so a lot of the grass was dormant. Tee boxes: We found the tee boxes to be pretty nice. Not full of divots with sand. Most of the are level, but the ones that are not did not affect our game. We played here last President’s Day and had a memorable round at Desert Pines. It’s a unique change from the typical Las Vegas desert layout, with tight, pine-lined fairways that give it more of a Carolina-style feel. The layout is challenging but fair, with water in play on several holes and greens that reward accuracy. With the course set to close in June 2026, you can tell the upcoming closure has affected some of the equipment and overall conditions. I see alot of bad reviews here lately and I'd just like to say I was very impressed with the staff at the entire facility. The course layout is a bit challenging for newer golfers like my wife and myself but it was still a great experience. Yes there are areas that could use some attention on the greens and fareways but overall it's still a nice facility. I guess if you want a 5 star facility then this would not meet your expectations.

For a course price of $175 on a weekend we expected more. 9 minutes from Fremont St (excellent) the course layout was challenging & the greens perfect madness !! Sand bunkers were rock solid & the fairways mostly dirt. Water hazards had a bunch of trash all over & looked hangared for the price. Staff were super friendly & helpful. This is more of a $75 course (local rate) then raping the of tourist hard money. Still fun & close

Absolutely, hands down the worst coarse I have ever played. No effort, zero, in maintaining this course. I would normally say any golf is good golf but in this case we just had to leave after holes. I give 2 starts because the people are nice and the food was great. Go for lunch but they should not be accepting payment for the course. Shame too because it could be very nice.

Played here on the 05/11/2024. Was a single player on vacation so was first out, got around in 2hrs and 12 mins. Greens were slow and it's clear other golfers who have played this course obviously don't bother to fix their divots on the green. Enjoyed the course set up, yes it's tight, but keep it straight and you will go well. Personally broke 80 for the first time, so will remember this course for a long time. Cannot rate the staff more highly, from booking online from Australia to service on the day was 1st class.

I’ve played munis and courses under construction — this was still the worst-conditioned course I’ve ever paid money to play. Fairways were more of a suggestion, since they were spray painted dirt. Greens looked like they were last rolled during the previous administration. Tee boxes had more undulation than the greens. At $150, I expected something resembling a golf course. What I got was a live demonstration of erosion, patchwork grass, and regret. If you enjoy guessing where your ball landed because everything looks the same shade of dead, this place is for you. I rarely post anything negative but wow. $180+ for this? They don’t care about the course. Played 5 holes and left. Literally left the course after putting over piles of goose and bird crap. Pace of play was bad. All tee boxes covered in tees, cigarette butts etc. one cart-path turnaround was flooded with over 6 inches of water with trash floating in it. This may have been a great track at one time as the terrain and design are both interesting. But I wouldn’t pay $10 to play here.

Played here for the first time and was quite impressed with the value. Greens were in great shape, all of their team were very nice. No one in front or behind us the entire time. I’ve had worse experiences at private clubs. If I had one thing to mention that wasn’t positive, we only saw the cart girl on hole 3 or 4, when we didn’t need anything, and did not see her again. We would definitely play here again.

This golf course is already gone. It is due to close in June 2026, giving way to a housing development. I never understood why they put it there in the first place. It was--and remains--a horrible neighborhood. A golf course certainly wasn't going to change that. It's clear they did not overseed--or overseed much--this winter. The course is entirely dormant Bermuda, so it's like hitting off dirt. This also means shots bounce in unpredictable ways, and finding your ball even when it should have been in the fairway can be daunting. Incredibly overpriced and just not what the course used to be. It’s sad because the Dye Design (PB, not Pete) at one time was a blast to play: crazy tight fairways, some excellent green complexes, and a fair value. Those days are long gone as the golf explosion continues to raise the prices, and golf courses that are nowhere near the value they are charging are taking advantage. I will give Desert Pines a little credit for redoing the greens. If they can keep them firm and fast, it will be a lot better when springtime conditions roll around.
