Desert Sands Golf Course

A very well kept executive course in Mesa. Played Desert Sands for the first time recently and had an overall solid experience. The course itself was in good shape (played February 2025). Fairways, greens, and rough were healthy. The desert does come into play as well. My biggest complaint would be the greens. I have played courses all across the Valley and can honestly say these were some of the hardest, most ridiculous pin placements I've ever played. Every green is located on a huge mound with severe slopes that have pins right in the middle of the steepest parts. No shot is rewarded, only…

The course is in the best shape I have seen it in the 5 years I have lived here. The greens are quick and slippery providing some good challenges. The tee boxes are good and the fairways are great! Our round took 3 hours and 10 minutes. The carts are good quality and the staff was pleasant! Plus, the price was right!!!

Fun course, met Wally a week or two ago, sounds like some good things coming. A fun memory I have: We (4sum) were finishing up a hole. 2 retired gentlemen were having some beers in the backyard, stopped us when we finished the hole. Called us over, took a pair of clippers, cut off two roses and gave them to our ladies. Our wives are around 30 and turned beat red. These gents made these ladies giggle like little kids. It was awesome.

Played many rounds over several years with our rv park group and have never had a bad round. Each season we play, the course just keeps getting better; one season it’s the greens, next season the T boxes, just always improving…. And the staff is always cordial and eager to help out, oh and one last thing, the starter is awesome at keeping everyone on time…

I first golfed Desert Sands in 2010. Three Canadian friends and I went for a round. We found it quite challenging with the greens being mounded. When I met Dick Johnson, he asked me if I would be interested in joining the Friday men’s league. I did so, and golfed there for 10 years, enjoying the course and meeting so many nice people. I highly recommend this course!

I love this golf course. I went with a group of ladies for my friend's birthday. We had such a great time. We started by getting yummy Bloody Mary's and breakfast sandwiches at the golf shop. The greens were nice and we had a wonderful day on the links! We can't wait to go back again soon!

Beautiful course that was in great shape, but the staff was rude upon check in. The starter had us start 10 minutes before our tee time, and had us packed in the course close behind and in front of other golfers. I was told to “keep up” as we departed the first hole, despite showing up and starting early via the starters orders. Would have loved to give this a 5/5 but the staff experience was poor and the golfers behind us were rude during the game telling us multiple times to “hurry up” even with us having to wait for the golfers ahead of our group. 5 star 18-hole putting green course, East Valley's hidden gem. Makes practicing your putting very fun. I found myself playing it multiple times to beat my score. Also enjoyed the adjacent chopping and sand trap practice space.

This is a nice golf course to go to. They have very reasonable prices.

Im truly embarrassed as an American for what happened at Desert Sands today. I play with a couple of elderly gentleman that I was paired up with on the first tee 6 years ago and have played with them mostly every week all winter ever since. As I stated we are all north of 70 years old and one gentleman is from Canada! We were reprimanded for driving the cart down the fairway against their 90 degree rule, we were wrong, he forgot, we play a lot of courses. Desert sands is a great place to have a round. Especially right now with the green coming back onto the course, it's definitely worth it. On the cart, or walking, and it continues to be one of my favorite places to play.

Absolutely Abhorrent! First off let me say this, I play a lot of golf in the valley and I am very familiar with golf etiquette and typical “rules” of golf courses. My brother was in town this weekend from out of state to celebrate his birthday with his family, he wanted to play some golf with his brothers and father. 6 guys in total.
