Franklin Canyon Golf Course

Look it’s a decent public golf course. It has some maintenance issues but the bones are good with some really memorable holes. I wish more Bay Area golfers walked as the game is meant to be walked and recognize that a cart is for those who are infirm at least on courses designed to be walked like this one. It’s a solid b+ and worth playing from time to time. Hope they go back and improve as this area is lacking in golf.

The golf course features an absolutely great layout that effectively challenges players' skills. While the fairways are quite brown and in need of some TLC, which is understandable during the dry season, the well-maintained greens add to the challenge. Despite these issues, the course remains enjoyable, and I give it 5 stars for its outstanding layout and the overall experience.

4-21-23 2nd year hosting tourney here and we had a blast! Eric was awesome once again and dinner was great. Golf course is a fun track! ....Our group hosted a golf tournament today and Eric, Adam, Greg and the rest of staff were awesome. The course was in good shape and everyone loved the character of course. It was a nice track and somewhat forgiving. We'll definitely be back.

Been hearing from other golfers that this place is closing, and the owner has sold half of the land to RV camping site ........ That's too bad, cause this is one of the best course around the Bay Area, even through it's not well maintained, but the landscape and ambience is 👍 good Lots of up and down hills, that you need to tee off across the ditches, challenging but fun. I like Hole 12 particularly, you need to drive the ball across a small valley, and you need to control your second shot by not hitting too well to fly over the green and get into another valley. Here is my hot take... it this a course that is in Tour level shape? No, but it is very playable and doesn't deserve the knocks it gets. Scenic views with fun/open layout with some intriguing risk/reward shots. Most importantly, this is a course where you can play 18 in 4.5 hours on most days with a very fair greens fees.

I had not played this course in some years because of the hard, patchy, dry, parched fairways and divot-marked greens. Having returned by invitation to Franklin yesterday, I found the course to be almost in the same condition. I grant that there were a few beautiful holes and the course, if managed well, with it's challenging layout, could be a spectacular track, but it is not worth the time or money. I won't return!

I understand that this place may have sold and may not remain as is. Makes me sad. The driving range was acceptable and a good size bucket of balls was only $10.

Played this for the first time the other day with low expectations given some of the comments I read here about the course being a dust bowl. I think that might be the case in the summer but right now it’s actually really green. I imagine the course changes with the grass on the hillsides though. However, it seems like winter/spring are the best times of the year to play here. The driving range was fine and the practice greens were decent enough. Great place for practice, fairway is little bit rough but greens were in excellent condition. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. We got a great deal, perfect for our budget!

Great course, priced right. Can be hot in the afternoon which is great for sun lovers!

Rude employee, course needs water, sprinklers were broken and flooding the course. Wouldn’t recommend for $30 + $20 for carts.

For value, it is a good course. Look for the evening rate during winter. Tuesday afternoons the driving range is closed during at least winter.
