In summary

Garden Valley Golf Resort is appreciated for its friendly staff and enjoyable course layout, with some visitors finding the greens in good condition. However, many express disappointment over the course's decline, citing issues such as poor maintenance, limited open holes, and the conversion of facilities for real estate development. The absence of certain amenities, such as a driving range and adequate food services, along with the condition of the carts, are also common concerns.

It's a shame. Now, a shell of what it used to be. There's only a modified 9 holes open. All of the good holes (11-17) are gone. I really don't see this place staying open much longer. Sad to say. You might want to go say goodbye to your old friend but not for more than $20. Pictures are of the closed holes. The 9 holes that are open are maintained and playable.

Was skeptical after reading the reviews but had a lot of fun overall. Lady in the pro shop was friendly and helpful. Only downside was the 9th hole was difficult to find and there were several gopher holes throughout the course which was giving caddy shack vibes. Would play this course again given the price and overall experience.

The pictures and video should speak for themselves. This place is extremely rundown and very overpriced considering the conditions. At $53 a round on a weekday, it should be better. Sad, because it used to be great and the layout is actually pretty good.

Course could you some TLC especially the cart path. No concession food or grill. Golf is still good!

Awesome course! Greens rolled true, bunkers a little shabby. Owner and I got in a big confrontation, we took it outside and I handled it. Ended up shooting an ace on 8, with the cart girl watching. Took her to the owners suite for the night, and ended up getting her pregnant. The owner banned me for life when he found out. I won’t be going back, especially with that kid on the way. Cool course tho.

Very disappointed would be an understatement. I have played here for a couple years and loved the course. But the course is not in good condition to start off. Only 9 holes are left that you have to play twice. Still charging full price and no notification of only 9 holes being played. Absolutely ridiculous. Such a shame. This course used to be a good play.

After coming here for our annual golf trip for 21 years straight , sadly we won't be back. There was a time when a person could get a nice breakfast before golf here. Now you are lucky to get anything from the restaurant area before a morning round. They have removed the driving range to sell lots for houses. The fairways are full of weeds. The greens are in bad shape. No grass on tee boxes. A beverage person on the course almost never happens, on the weekends even. This place was once called the Augusta of Texas. Seems the free golf for life was a bad idea. What a shame, this course was one o…

Myself and 15 guys from church decided to have our annual Texas Ryder golf trip out here. We drove from Dallas so it was easy to get to. The price for two nights and 3 rounds was fantastic and everyone could stay in the same cabin. The cabin was serviceable. There was a kitchen with stove/oven/microwave/refrigerator but nothing fancy. Lounge area with poker table, couches, TVs, and a ping pong table were perfect for relaxing after a round. Despite being soggy and wet most of the weekend, the only standing water on the course was found in either a bunker or along the cart path. All but maybe on…

My golf group has been playing Garden Valley for about 26 years. We stopped playing it about five years ago because the course conditions were poor. After five years we decided to come back out and see if conditions had improved. Sadly they had not. There was no driving range because it was turned into retail home lots. We played Saturday and Sunday and both days we had to switch carts because the batteries were dead. We saw it happening to several other golfers. The only good fairways were solid weeds. There were many places where wild pigs had dug up the fairways. The greens were pretty go…

Garden valley has always been a favorite of mine and friends to play locally! Over the past few years I've watched the course decline. Fairways hardly have grass in them, greens are full of weeds, there are numerous spots on the course that are just mud holes. They seem more concerned w selling lots and adding cabins than taking care of the course itself. They've altered holes and taken out the driving range just to sell lots. The carts are in poor condition as well... All while raising their rates again. I unfortunately cannot see myself paying for what has become a very subpar condition cour…

Back in the day this was the premiere golf course around. Haven't played it in over 25 years, things change. Moved away and recently moved back. A friend of mine from Mississippi came over & we met there. We enjoyed the course very playable. The staff extremely accommodating, the food was outstanding. I will go back, soon. Thank you for a pleasurable experience.

This is a sad review to write. Part of a group that has been going to GV for over 13 years to play golf for a couple days and fantasy football draft. The condition of the course and clubhouse has fallen so steeply that we will no longer be hosting our yearly event there. -Terrible Tee boxes -Terrible Greens.......weed covered -Totally dead grass fairways -excessive watering in spots not needed or dying -Clubhouse no AC -Clubhouse no bar or grill anymore -Pool close because 'with the heat, we can't figure out the chemicals?!?!!?" -Multiple carts dying every round -No driving range (plotted for…
