Been putting off playing here for a while, I figured it would just be another goat track. Can’t tell you how untrue that is. Showed up a couple hours early to my 2 pm tee time to see what the practice facilities were like. Loved the two pitch/chipping greens. Great grass and plays true to the actual course which I think is pretty important. Putting green was normal. You purchase a range token in the pro shop then fill up your bucket at a machine otw to the range. Good range balls, target selection, and grass. The course itself has a nice open layout, with a couple of doglegs (really big ones o…

Best deal I’ve ever seen in golf. Course is in amazing shape. The alternate tee boxes to get 18 holes out of a 9 hole layout is the perfect touch.

There of lots of terrific things to say about Gillespie. It's a fun challenging course, the people are friendly, it's economical and it historical. Gillespie has the BEST practice facility ANYWHERE! You can take your child to the 9 hole chipping course and play golf for ten minutes or all day long. Maybe your short came could benefit. Thank you Bob and Greensboro.

Best price in area. Nine hole course with two sets of tees for front & back nine. Seniors/Juniors @$15, others $22. Driving range on site as well as a short course (par 3ish).

I have been playing here for about eight years. I have enjoyed playing and practicing on the range. I have always been treated very professionally and the employees have been very kind until today when the person on duty at 10 am July 29 , 2025. was very rude and made me uncomfortable. I will not quit coming here because I do enjoyed the course. The fellow that was working today could have just been having a bad day , but don’t take it out on the customer. Denny

Solid muni. Course is good, rates are good. The hidden gem here is the range/practice facilities. Great spot to work on your short game at the short course and the range is nice. Could use a few more spots on the range but it’ll do. Never had an issue with staff, always friendly and helpful. The grill in the clubhouse is good too.

**FULL REVIEW** Played this course 7/11/25 for the first time ever and to say I was thoroughly impressed is an understatement. First of all, the facilities are incredible. $6 for a bucket of range balls, hitting off of good grass, with the option of premium mats was pleasantly surprising. Not to mention there’s about 4 different putting greens (3 of which you can chip onto) to work on putting. All varied in shape. There is a short course that looks incredible. Didn’t try it out but it’s 9 holes and $6 per person. No hole is longer than 40 yards I would estimate so it’s a great way to work on…

Very well designed course good for newbies or experienced players. This could be one of the most underrated courses in the area.
