In summary

Greatwood Golf Club is appreciated for its challenging course layout, friendly staff, and convenient location, making it a popular choice for both beginners and experienced golfers. While the fairways and greens are generally well-maintained, some visitors have noted issues with the condition of the driving range and tee areas. However, there are recurring complaints about slow pace of play, inadequate course marshaling, and maintenance issues with golf carts, which can detract from the overall experience.

Great course, very nice, well maintained and challenging. I visited for the very first time and will sure not be the last one! Staff is super friendly

The fairways are fine, but the ground around the tees is too hard to place the tees, and the greens are in very poor condition—they need more maintenance. I’ve always played there, and I like it because it’s very close to my house and the staff is very friendly.

I came to play a twilight round in fully aware i would not finish 9 holes. They had a tee time online at 5:45, but whenever i show up at 5:40 they said they are no longer open for play. So then I go to the putting green and they are in horrible shape. Staff was not friendly either. Save your money on this one.

As a homeowner in the Greatwood Golf Sections, I really think the club should remind players to be cautious around the homes and enforce clear rules that if you hit someone’s property, you stay, report it, and take responsibility. We’ve replaced two windows in the past year alone. One golfer was kind enough to approach, apologize and cover the damage. The other one simply took off. And it’s not just about skill, the level of basic respect seems to be declining. One ball even came through our master bedroom. It truly could have hurt someone. I hope golfers remember there are real people living…

Hands down the worst experience I’ve had at any Houston golf course. I booked a tee time for 2 golfers on the GolfNow app. When I arrived, the staff insisted I had booked for 4, even after I showed them my confirmation clearly showing it was for 2. The starter told me he “doesn’t care about the app,” insisted it was booked for 4 anyway, and warned that I’d be charged fully next time if this “happened again.” Not exactly a welcoming start, but we continued on. Then the carts… After hole #2, our cart started shutting off repeatedly. It took us more than 10 minutes just to reach hole #3. We cal…

Played on December 27 morning. Course layout is one of my favorites here in greater Houston area. Conditions, especially the greens are in great shape. Pace of play was terrible, it took 5 hours to complete the round. That's why I gave it a 3 star rating. Marshall was nowhere to be seen.

I went there about a month ago and left my range finder on the cart. I called the pro shop and asked them if they found it. They confirmed that they did find it and would set it aside with my name on it. I told them I didn’t live in the area so it would be a couple of weeks until I pass by the area. I go there this last Saturday to pick up my range finder and it mysteriously disappeared and they couldn’t find it. I played about 5 rounds at greatwood since February this year, I thought they were honest and had integrity but I was mistaken.

I love Greatwood Golf Course, many courses used outdated golf carts which are diesel based and not GPS enabled. Greatwood course is super friendly to beginners as well as experienced. Bunkers & Greens can be improved otherwise it’s my favorite golf course in our area. Yes it was getting super crowded during Christmas holidays/semester break time when we had awesome weather. I usually finish a round in 3 to 4 hrs. Super friendly staff, easy to follow course with a few challenges!

Greatwood Golf Club Overall, it wasn’t bad could definitely be better. The course layout was nice, but the driving range needs some attention, with quite a bit of dead grass throughout. Still a decent spot to get a round in if you’re in the area.

Tried to play a round here as a foursome. The pace of play isn't managed at all. We managed 9 holes in 3 hours 15min being held up by a group that wouldn't let us play through or pick up the pace. Despite asking the Marshalls to help us out they never even spoke to the group in front of us. I guess it's a fine course if you wanna spend over 6 hours to finish a round.

Greatwood Golf Club offers a decent golf experience. The staff are friendly, and the course is challenging. Shot placement and smart club selection really matter here, with plenty of water and homes bordering almost every hole. The greens and fairways are generally in good condition as well. That said, the pace of play can be slow. Rounds often run 4.5 to 5 hours, and there’s typically no course marshal on duty to help keep things moving. If slow play affects your enjoyment, avoid this course. Beverage cart service can also be hit or miss. With its higher slope and course rating, Greatwood a…

Greatwood golf was great! This was my first time playing here. The course has a great layout and was challenging. Bunkers and water hazards were strategically placed to up the challenge. The greens are well protected with water and sand. 17 and 18 were very unique layouts with 18 having an island green. The back 9 nine was definitely more challenging than the front 9. The pace of play in the front was good and flowing, but the back 9 was backed up likely because of the difficulty level. Just a guess. There is a decent size driving range and practice putting green. The clubhouse has a lot of…
