Hawaii Kai Golf Club

Based on the price it was an amazing round of golf. I got a really good deal on Golfnow.com or Teeoff; I can't remember which one. I would have been a little disappointed at the conditions of the greens and the rough if I would have paid full price even though Hawaii Kai was considerably cheaper than the nicer courses. I did spend most of my time off the fairway, so it would have been nicer if it was a little more kept up. Half way through our round we got hungry, so we went to the clubhouse. The worker was friendly enough, but they weren't serving any food at the snack shop or the restaurant!…

I played last week and the condition of the greens and the bunkers was very bad. I've never played in Hawaii before this round and I guess I have little t compare it to, but it was a rip off. Though the staff was friendly and the scenery was beautiful. I think it was way overpriced. The photo shows a little about what I'm talking about with the condition of the bunkers, but there are many that are much worse.

Played the championship course on a Saturday about 8:30am so pace was pretty good. The course is well maintained with a few weeds on the greens but not an issue. There are a few really narrow holes which added to the fun. There are some really nice views of the ocean on the back 9 and lush hills all around. I grew up on this golf course, came up for review, spent 100 of hours as a kid, teen, and young adult playing holes at night after closing which was allowed since we lived on the course, great memories here, it was one of my late father's favorite course aND he played the whole thing maybe around 100 times. Nostalgia for me seeing it again after so many years away. Hawaii kai will always be home.

Played New Years Day . Great way to start of the year. Checked in an hour before my tee time. Pro shop desk was helpful and courteous. They got me out earlier and as a single. Round competed in 4hrs 15mins. Parts of the course are dried out due to lack of rain lately but its playable. The rental clubs in excellent shape. The young kid at the cart return was super nice and helpful.

We had a reservation using Golfnow and called ahead to ask if they had golf bag rentals and they confirmed. When we got there, the person who checked us in said golf bag rental was $75. Our green’s fee was around $75 so my husband decided to buy a bag for $275 instead of paying $75 for the bag rental. The counter person suggested that we can use his discount to buy the bag and pay him the difference. (Why would we do that?) Located on the east side of Oahu, this public golf course allows single reservations and even solo play, depending on the situation. The price, including a cart for 18 holes, is comparable to municipal courses, making it arguably the best place to golf on Oahu considering accessibility and cost. It's a bit disappointing that it's underrated on Google. While the maintenance isn't top-notch, it's certainly not bad enough to interfere with play. Given the ease of booking, convenient location, and affordable pricing, it deserves a five-star rating.

December 23/2025 My father and I golfed here today and we paid 2 X $125.00 for green fees. We quit after 9 holes. It’s not worth $50.00 each. We got ripped off. We demand for a credit back on our Visa card now please or further reviews will be written! We booked with Golf Now. Every hole on the course is in tatters! Fairways/greens/ sand traps are in worse shape than someone can imagen. No attention to detail. Garbage cans tipped over/ ball washers have no water. I had the pleasure of playing on the Championship on March 27th, 2024, and had a great time. It started with the arrival and Lucas in the pro shop was amazing and very helpful in getting me rental clubs, balls, and some water for the round. He went above and beyond making sure I had everything and even some advice on a couple of the holes. The rest of the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We are from another state and considered a “guest” (it gets you absolutely nothing to be a guest). Very expensive (had to pay for two 18 holes rounds although only one can do 9 holes due to physical limitations and because of the “guest” status, we weren’t eligible to play just 9 holes). We rented clubs, they provided 3 balls for each of us but no tees (we used broken tees found in tee boxes). Fairways are in horrible shape, most greens in good shape. $165 for a weekday round and a cart in this condition is robbery! For how much they charge, they put NOTHING back into the course or the carts. The "Championship" course is in very poor shape, with parts of the fairways reduced to dirt and weeds, some dry greens, some tee boxes reduced to dried weeds, and ancient golf carts are decrepit, with bald tires, loose steering and the club clean long ago dis-used, with no water in it because what's the point, there's no water on the entire course! Worst value for the money I've ever had golfing. Do yourself a favor and avoid the frustration.
