In summary

Lakewood Golf Course in Maine is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens, friendly staff, and unique layout, including a challenging par 6 hole. The course offers a mix of open and tree-lined holes, making it appealing to a variety of golfers. While most visitors enjoy the course and its amenities, some have noted issues with slow pace of play and the course's layout, particularly the prevalence of dogleg left holes and additional trees in landing areas.

Beautiful Fields and greens for photos. The golf house was spacious and provided great ceilings for bounce flash. The guests at the wedding had enough space for dancing, food, buffet and seating. The bar was well staffed and there was minimal clutter around the wedding space.

XC Skiing, Nordic trails during winter! About 5-10km of rolling trails groomed for skate and classic! Small warming hut with free hot chocolate! 5$ per day for skiing or buy the season pass from the website. Good training, some forested trails!

Incredible Staff, Great course, Great Prices. Probably some of the most fun I've had golfing all year. The gentleman behind the counter was super accommodating I just feel like I had to leave them a great review. Absolutely zero complaints about the whole experience.

Had the privilege in playing in the Lakewood Golf Course 100th Birthday Celebration today 9/21/25 and also celebrated my father in law Gale Marshall’s 80th Birthday, Gale is a very proud member of. Lakewood Golf Course and truly enjoys all the people who play at this course especially his Wednesday high noon group. I have played this course many times over the years but today I brought a bunch of friends up from Southern Maine to playing the tournament and to celebrate Gales birthday and I witnessed an absolutely class act of people to include the owner Kevin run a fantastic golf tournament, s…

Love this course. Challenging course with a different layout than most. The 8th hole is my favorite, two 4 irons to the green is the play. Also, never a bad view on this course.

Well maintained course. Friendly staff. Short length practice range and full 18 hole par 72. Definitely worth checking out.

Lakewood Golf Course was a great place for myself and 4 other friends to enjoy a round of September golf. We were the 1st group off at 7:45am on a Saturday. The course was in great shape and the greens were in even better shape. A basic yet challenging course. Had a great time playing there. I look forward to going back when I find myself back up in Northern Maine.

This is a fantastic course. Always well maintained. Warning, there is a Par 6 hole! Definitely worth a try for anyone novice to pro. This course offers a wide variety of distances and lies to challenge any golfer.

Pleasant course to golf. I have driven past this course to our cabin 35 or 40 times and decided to give it a try. Greens are in wonderful shape, tee boxes ok, and some areas of fairways and course dried out a little this late in the year which is common. All in all a great track and well worth the $35 cost without a cart. Will definitely golf here again.

Terrible ownership. We had a foursome playing along, having a great time. Manager rides up to us on hole 13 and harrases us claiming that we are taking too long and holding up other golfers, calling us “disrespectful”. We knew we were playing slow and any group that caught up behind us we would let play through. They have a “four and a half hour limit” on foursomes, absolutely ridiculous for 4 amateur golfers just trying to have a good time. FURTHERMORE, on the 14th hole, the owner rides up on the fairway and proceeds to sit there and watch us play the entire hole as if we were children (we ar…

Best course in central Maine and arguably among the best in the state. The unique par 6 is a great hole. The overall quality of the course justifies the cost and makes for a great day on the green.
