Las Positas Golf Course

We booked for 3 and one could not make it. There were very slow people in front of us. We started at 10:15 instead of 10:08. At the 7th hole, we decided to skip and play the 9th hole. At that point my buddy got a call that grand kids is sick and he had to leave. There were 12 people in front of us at the 10th hole. I asked if we can play the 1st 9 again and we were told that it is busy there. I joined the 3 some in front of me and played 10th and 11th hole and got so tired of waiting that I quit. I hate rating this place 3 stars because I see the good bones there. It's a great layout with a lot of fun holes, but man, this place was in capital R rough shape when I played it. There wasn't a discernible fairway on most holes as everything was shaggy, and the rough was wild. There were three instances when I lost my ball off my tee shot in the fairway. On the good side the greens are well kept and the price was good for a weekend (56 walking). Overall, with some TLC this place could be a real fun spot. Also the little par 3 course looked fun. I really like this course, but it does have some issues. This is a challenging course that forces you to hit the fairways off the tees, or lay up on some of your approaches. Unfortunately, I found the sand traps and some of the fairways to be hard, very hard. Overall, I'd definitely play this course again.

Course is in good spring shape. Greens appear recently aerated but mostly recovered. Pace was reasonable — completed our middle-day weekend round in 5 hours. Be sure to bring enough water, there are no refill stations on course.

Excellent staff excellent fun course! Don’t be scared off by other reviews it’s in really good condition. Greens are electric and roll so pure yet feel so soft. Look forward to a return back!

EDIT: I decided to give LP another go after hearing they put some serious work into the course and facilities. Boy was I surprised and impressed with their efforts!! The greens are in amazing shape and roll exceptionally true. Pacing was not a problem on a beautiful Friday evening. Staff was friendly. These photos are a good representation of how this course is. Run down, bad shape, and just not very enjoyable. What puzzled me was the cart fee was almost as much as the green fee. If you’re going to drop 65 bucks on a round go play San Ramon Golf Club. Much better experience.

The pro shop guys are some characters. Rude and have weird rules not seen in other courses in the area. Check in gentleman is rude for folks walking from the main entrance. He locked it and want ppl to come by the back door at 5pm. When some young folks tried to walk-in with their bags he started yelling at them. Have to get back the carts by 8pm when sunset is at 8:45pm. On the course side, first 9 are ok. The later 9 are kept up well, while the pathways are broken & are decades old. Bridges connecting the waterways would be give a F- rating, rusted & rattling when you walk or ride the cart…

Great "family" golf course. We played a very good 18 holes, yet they also have true kids course with holes about 80 yards. Lots of small planes take off, but all in all, fun. Pocs of good food at the clubhouse restaurant.

Very fun par 3 course. Played it in about 1 hour on foot... well maintained. Greens are nice.

The course was in good condition. The greens were a little sandy, but not too bad. The weather was perfect.
