Le Portage Golf Course, a municipal gem in Chéticamp, offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The fairways were in great shape, with plenty of bunkers and fast, well-maintained greens. We had an 8 a.m. tee time, but the course didn’t open until around 8:30. The owner kindly comped our fees for the delay, which was a thoughtful gesture. We truly enjoyed our round and can’t wait to return.

Had a great experience here, it was very dry, but still well maintained. I will definitely play it again. Views are great and holes are fun.

I have had the pleasure of playing some of the finest courses in Canada and Scotland. This would easily rank in my all time top 10. Hats off to the Superintendent. As wet as the East Coast has been, the course was in remarkably good condition, especially the greens!!!

Le portage is a decent course for the amount of staff that are working there. Its a fair course from white and blue tees. The bunkers need some work to bring back to play in. Have started to fix a couple of them. The course is walkable and/or take a cart to play. Some of the greens could be bigger and pin locations could be better on some holes

It's a dry season but they've kept the greens lush, the tee boxes were green but some were uneven and hacked up. The fairways are dry as expected but the big thing was the sand traps were not maintained and overgrown except for a few. Hopefully next year they will be better.

Charges way too much for out of province golfers, paid $172 with a cart, course is worth $50 at best. Tee boxes are uneven and grass is long. Picture of bunkers on the website and billboard is misleading, one or two good bunkers on the entire course, reste is automatic drop/relief. Would be a good course for $50, charging a Cabot tax to play this course is taking advantage. On the positive end of things, people at the course are very nice, ownership needs to review its pricing model.

Sept 2023, was raining when I played but didn’t detract from the experience. Wonderful mountain vistas, well conditioned fairways and greens and yeah the bunkers were somewhat rough but so are Highlands Links! Great value, friendly staff, good practice facility and nice post game deck with a mountain view. Overall a real great experience. If I lived in Cape Breton I’d play here all the time and never get bored. A shame it’s overshadowed by its “hallowed” brethren elsewhere on the island, because it’s a wonderful golf course!

Fantastic golf course and staff. Course is in immaculate shape. First hole is kind of funky but the rest of the track is really a hidden gem. Cant miss on a Canadian golf trip.

Course was EXTREMELY overpriced!!! No sand in traps ~ sod turned upside down instead ~ we were told the high winds blows the sand out!!!! They just took our money $211. Felt very ripped off ~ I tried to reach the manager ~ no return call 😳 No previous warning of this • how do you play a proper game like that??? Highly overrated for what they're offering!!!

The course is really spaced out nicely. Every par was a good challange. Nice and wide faraway on every hole. Staff was pleasant and polite. Definitely going again. Highly recommend playing this course if your up for some good challenging golf!
