In summary

Leo J. Martin Memorial Golf Course is appreciated for its affordability and convenient location near Boston, making it a suitable choice for casual golfers and those looking to practice in a relaxed setting. The course layout offers a classic New England feel with walkable paths and some strategic holes. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, particularly the greens, which are often described as poorly maintained and challenging to play on. Despite these issues, the friendly staff and reasonable pricing contribute to its appeal for budget-conscious players.

Anyone who ranked this more than one star is lying!!!! By far the worse course I have never played. Based on the reviews, my expectations were low. And, it was worse than the reviews. The greens were unputtable. No difference between the fairway and the rough. First course that i requested a refund after 18. This was not golf

Course was in okay condition. Greens were extremely slow, lots of dead patches on the greens and fairways, tee boxes needed a lot of love, on the bright side, the fairways were wide open, the rough was okay, bunkers were decent and the prices were pretty fair. Overall, if you are looking for a decent course to learn to play golf on or just practice for fun, this is the place.

Overall, my experience here was positive. The best part about this course is the affordability aspect. It only cost $30 to play 18 holes if you were to walk. The most evident and persistent thing that frustrates me about this golf course though is the greens… they’ve been left to dry out essentially and some of them are hardly playable whatsoever. Being that it’s a municipal course I don’t anticipate it to be at a pristine level of course conditions. However, it appears to me that these green have been grossly neglected over the last couple of years and left to be as they are. Most holes I jus…

Hey are you a professional golfer? If not then Leo J Martin Golf Course is perfect for you. Do the greens have more sand than grass? Yes. If you hit it in the fairway will you end up on grass? Could do. Will you get hit with balls flying over the range net? Potentially. Will every lie test your sanity? Definitely. But does it offer probably the biggest bucket of range balls in the greater Boston area for just $10? Yes. Can you play 9 holes for just $19? 100%. Are the people nice? Absolutely. And is it one of the funnest courses I have played with my friends? Hell yes. If you want a course that…

Truthfully, you couldn't pay me to golf here again. The course is in horrendous condition and is seemingly never maintained. The fairway length is long and the rough is longer making just about any ball you strike disappear. Many of the greens were beaches and in such rough shape that they were genuinely unplayable. Other greens were moved to the fairway where any attempt to putt was nearly impossible. Until things improve drastically, don't make the same mistake my buddy and I made and just play elsewhere. Only positive experience was the driving range.

Leo J. Martin Golf Course a municipal course with a storied past and a lot of potential, but it falls short in a few key areas. It's a decent option for casual golfers or those looking for an affordable round close to Boston, but it won’t blow you away in terms of course conditions or amenities. Course Layout – 4/5 The layout of the course is one of its stronger points. Originally designed with a classic New England feel, the course winds along the Charles River and features a few interesting holes that reward strategic play. It’s walkable, which is a big plus, and offers enough variety to ke…

I played here for the first time because of its convenient location to Boston and available tee times. The Good: The staff is helpful and the driving range is useful with relatively premium mats and a variety of targets. However, the practice green is useless for putting — it is diseased and weed ridden — but could be used for chipping (maybe). The Bad: The fairways are unkempt and there is no signage at all around the course, so if it’s your first time, you may accidentally play the wrong hole after the 1st green. The Ugly: The greens are diseased, some with weeds growing wildly in the middle…

Cannot call this place a golf course, greens and tee boxes non existent. Some of the holes are just fairway with a flag in the center. Fairways resemble a stony beach perfect place to twist an ankle. Wouldn’t play it again for free.

I can’t believe I played at this sorry excuse of a golf course. I would rather spend my money on quite literally anything than ever golf here again. Don’t get excited if you drive the green because you’re still 4 putting given the green sand traps. This course gave me the yips and I don’t think I can ever play a round of golf again. Who ever runs this place should be behind bars. Stopped playing after 16 holes because I couldn’t handle any more. If you’re considering coming here reconsider I’d rather stare at a wall for 4 hours. 1 star for the complementary push carts.

I mean you have to pay me to play this sorry excuse of a "golf course". From the get go, was met with a very rude employee. Then went up to the first tee box to see that it was just straight dirt. There is literally no difference between the rough, tee box, and the greens. Just all dead grass, weeds, or dirt. I've seen abandoned golf courses in better condition than whatever this was. Looks like the course has never felt the touch of a landscaper. Just seriously the worst golf course ever. This course made me never want to play golf again. Do better.
