In summary

Mallard Head Country Club is appreciated for its friendly staff and affordable pricing, offering a casual golfing experience. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with fairway conditions, overgrown areas, and poorly maintained bunkers. The new management's policies, such as charging for non-playing riders and not offering rain checks, have also been points of contention for some patrons.

Everybody is friendly and good if you’re looking for a very casual cheap round. However, I do think everybody should have an idea of the course conditions. Limited to no fairway definition. Clover and crabgrass everywhere and bald spots lead to overall bad lies despite good positions. Most bunkers were in overall poor condition or had been allowed to grow in completely. Lots of random ground under repair areas in the fairway. Some carts need to be repaired or taken out of service. Blue painters tape is not a solution for straps not functioning effectively. Several tee boxes were in unacceptabl…

I’m really looking forward to seeing how the course is updated. I truly hope the renovations bring it back to its full potential. It’s disheartening to see such a beautiful course — especially in an area like this — not being properly cared for.

Played here this afternoon (Sunday around 2pm) with overcast skies/slight sprinkle. The pace of play was extremely slow and then it started raining pretty good. We decided to back it up and go in and asked for a rain check. New management doesn’t offer “rain checks” so now we are out a whole greens fee since my partner and I were only able to play 8 holes. I have played here before so I knew what to expect regarding poor maintenance of the course but typically wouldn’t mind due to the price. I will now be taking my business elsewhere due to course conditions and the fact that they don’t offer…

The course is under new ownership and they are amazing! The course does need work and they’re working hard to perform these task. It’s a great layout and the course makes you think and place shots on doglegs. Tyler and John are great people who treated perfectly. Hope to come back more!

Yeah sure The course could be better, but you know what was a lot better was knowing I could golf on Saturday for 38 bucks or for $76 for me and my lady, and usually when the grass was cut it was a great time. Now we'll get a nice fancy course, because you know we don't already have a bunch of those, that rumor has it is going to charge out the tail for a round, and probably still have mediocre conditions like 500 club. Mooresvilles Course is the only one worth the cash they charge around here

Loved playing here the past couple of years. Would take my twins out with me who are 2 years old. Tried calling this morning for a late afternoon round and have them ride around with me like normal and was told new ownership would charge them full price. What a shame, it doesn’t slow pace and playing that late in the afternoon taking up one cart wouldn’t be a problem. One of my favorite things to do taken by money. I guess I’ll pay the extra money to play Mooresville since they don’t mind.

Played the back 9 today 5/20/25. Like most other reviewers, I would give the fairways and tee boxes a zero. Not sure what has happened to this course but it's awful. Tons of weeds and clover everywhere. I'll give it two stars - greens are decent and the price is cheap but other than that.......

I rarely leave reviews, but this one is well-deserved. Mallard Head is in terrible condition — the fairways are patchy, the greens are neglected, and overall it feels like no one’s taken care of the place in years or even has tried to mow the fairways. It’s hard to enjoy a round when the course itself looks abandoned and plays like my backyard Worse than the course is the staff is specifically the man managing the carts. His attitude was unnecessarily rude, bitter, and outright disrespectful. Golf is supposed to be enjoyable, not a place where you’re barked at by someone clearly miserable and…

Course is in terrible shape upped the price under new owners to 42.99 course looks worse rn then it did before when it was still mallard head. I wouldn't recommend for next few months while they redo whatever they trying to. Needs mowed major. Some of the fairways are even thinner like the 18th. Just disappointed especially when Google told me it was still same price gonna be headed to the other course for a while

On the day we played, 7/16/24, the course was in good shape. Greens were good, fairways were good. Some fairways the grass was a little long, as compared to $60+ courses I've played. But then we paid half that. For the price it was very good. We only played the front 9 so I don't know what the back looked like. Very hilly, challenging. Ball washers, water were available on several holes. I'd play the course again. Pro shop is nothing fancy. Gloves, balls, tees, hotdogs, drink and snacks. Had a great day!
