In summary

Westport Golf Club receives mixed reviews, with some golfers appreciating its challenging layout and friendly staff, as well as the opportunity for a relaxed, pressure-free round of golf. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with greens, fairways, and cart paths, as well as the impact of tree removal on the overall aesthetics. While some find value in its affordability, others feel the conditions do not justify the cost.

Had a great time playing this course! The 1 star ratings are very undeserved and ridiculous if you ask me! Some of the greens could use some work but most are in great condition! Also, being a mid-high handicap player, this course offered some great challenges. The pro at the shop was very welcoming and helpful! Definitely playing this course again with my brothers in law before heading back to Ohio!

Might be the worst course I have ever seen. Tree work has demolished the course. Cart paths ruined. Greens are inconsistent and in horrible shape. No telling if you are in fairway or rough. Dead grass everywhere. Most peoples back yards have better grass then this.

Westport Golf Club offers a solid round of golf, but the course conditions were mixed, resulting in a three-star experience. The layout has potential but there are some noticeable maintenance issues that impacted the overall round. The biggest drawback for the day was the state of the cart paths. They were significantly bumpy in many areas, making the ride around the course quite jarring and distracting from the game itself. More critically, the greens were not very well maintained. They were inconsistent, had patches, and didn't roll true, which made putting a frustrating challenge. Improving…

I’ll just put this picture of a random tee box here. If you want to pay to play at a course like this…fine. But this is what you get. That and a whole lot of cut down trees….everywhere. Patchy grass. Poor greens. Great news is you don’t need tees to play here, there’s plenty laying around for you to use. Also great news is my back quit hurting after one of the numerous bumps in the cart path launched me a foot off my seat (seriously, it actually quit hurting). If you ever wondered what it would be like to drop a golf course in the middle of a logging camp, great news here too…this is it! Hands…

2 stars for the awesome old school clubhouse and staff! Do you want to play a course that looks like it’s been ravaged by a natural disaster? This is your course! Do you want to play a course that looks like a dog track/goat course? This is your course! Horrific fairways and bald tee boxes? This is your course! 100 points for cute semi-tame foxes on the back nine.

Played there last week for first time. Great course layout, fairway are in good shape, the greens were fantastic! The front desk / club house staff (Paxton) was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back to Westport golf club soon!

Nowhere near as bad as reviews make it out to be. I was very hesitant to go after reading reviews but thought it couldn't be that bad. Many, many bare spots in the fairways. Rough definetely needs to be mowed. But the actual fairway really isn't that bad. Greens are same way, not that bad. No bumps or bare spots. if you go there expecting private course quality you'll quit after 2 holes. If you go expecting municipal level then you'll be happy at the price they charge. Worth $35 at most on full rack rate and that's what they charge.

I’ll give this course a 2 for the pricing but other than that there’s no fairways, no real rough just backyard grass, and the greens are not cut whatsoever. Good luck playing a real round on this course. So much wasted potential.

Me and a couple of friends played this course yesterday... and might I say the course is horribly kept!!! The greens, the cart path, t-boxes, along with trees down all over the place, was the worst I've ever seen. For the $50.00+ they charge, I can find much nicer courses to play! They would need to renovate the entire course before I would pay to play there again.

When Twin Oaks has a better star rating than you do it's time to bulldoze it down and build some more town houses. This course is again in disrepair. I have played golf for 45 years and if this was only course around I would quit. The land should be worth quite a bit so sell it and quit giving golf disrespect by calling this a golf course. Sorry for being so blunt as sometimes the TRUTH is not easy to hear.

I guess the bad reviews are from folks who think a cheap course is gonna have Augusta-like conditions. I use this course to PRACTICE. It is a fantastic course with zero pressure. Take a few shots from a green-side bunker or try a couple tee shots. I've played 4 balls myself for an entire round. You basically have the place to yourself. No one is gonna be standing behind you waiting on you. Yes, conditions are TERRIBLE, but this place is waaay better than going to the range. Just go in with the practice mindset and go play a real round somewhere else.

This was one of the worst courses I’ve ever seen. People walking their OFF LEASH dogs on the course as were hitting, random dude fishing in the water, whole course is dirt and weeds, trees cut down everywhere. What a waste of money.
