In summary

Birkdale Golf Club is appreciated for its challenging layout, friendly staff, and overall enjoyable golfing experience, with some recent improvements noted in course conditions. However, criticisms include inconsistent maintenance, particularly of the bunkers and greens, and the absence of a driving range, which some feel detracts from the overall value given the course's pricing. Additionally, issues with pace of play and management have been mentioned, suggesting room for operational improvements.

I went here and the greens looked like a naked mole rat. I’m so dissapointed in this 70 dollar round. But I still played great shooting a 110 from the front tees. I played my personal best ever. Almost made it on hole 6 or 7 I can’t remember. I can’t weight for this amazing golf year at better courses.

Booked this course hoping for a relaxing morning round, but it turned into a slow, frustrating slog. The fairways were patchy and the greens felt inconsistent almost like every putt was a guessing game rather than skill. We also waited on nearly every hole with no marshal in sight. At one point, a group behind us actually teed off while we were still in the fairway, which says a lot about how things were being managed that day. I left feeling like I paid for the idea of a nice golf experience rather than the real thing. Won’t be rushing back.

I used to go here regularly back when I was taking golfing lessons here but these days I do not have as much time and do not visit as often. I feel like it used to be a lot more well-kept but I think over the years it just kind of fell behind. I remember for a good while there, the driving range net was falling apart and it really didn't look good. And then the driving range itself was sold off and apartments got built on it. It's unfortunate but I suppose you do what you have to in order to stay open. But nonetheless I still have some good memories here and it is an enjoyable course. The sta…

If you’re a decent player - don’t go here. Not worth it. The greens and bunkers are almost unplayable… I’d rather play in my backyard… it is actually maintained better than this course.

just played here for the first time. Very nice course. The greens were in excellent condition as were fairways and bunkers easily played 18 holes in four hours, A very good pace . The staff from the clubhouse to the starters and so forth are all very nice and accommodating. It’s really a very nice golf course and being a Palmer design has some nice challenges.

Wouldn’t recommend this course. It suffers from poor management/ownership. No driving range, just a big parking lot and condos. Most of the bunkers are overgrown with grass and weeds, if the bunkers are cut and trimmed, then you have grass all in the bunkers. Half the bunkers don’t have sand, just dirt. Thatch left on the fairways/rough for days that you are bound to lose your ball in. Employees will operate loud equipment and blowers while you’re on the green, making it hard to focus and possibly shooting a trail of grass in your eyes. Sections of the cart path have to be driven around unless…

Coarse was in great shape for this time of the year. Big improvements in the bunkers recently. Attendants very friendly and helpful. Proshop attendant very friendly and helpful. Arnie's is a great pub.

80 dollar green fee is highway robbery when the fairways are not mowed and the greens are running a 5. Have to absolutely blast downhill putts. Decent bones to this course but if Arnold Palmer was alive he would remove his name from their website which the course sadly still boasts about.

This is an inexpensive (for the area) medium grade golf course. Thankfully we have recently had 3-4 inches of rain. This had made a phenomenal difference. The course is much better and more difficult with things leafing up, greening up and all in all filling in. That being said, clubhouse is rundown water leaks staining walls, pro shop is ok, bar is never crowded always open for a quick stop and go

This visit was after we had some days without rain, so the course had dried out nicely. The greens were quite speedy. With all the bunkers, it is a good course to practice getting out of them. The cart attendant was friendly and came by multiple times during the round in case we needed snacks and beverages. What wasn't in view was a marshal to keep an eye on pace of play. When one was requested, the clubhouse said we couldn't possibly see what we were seeing (that the group in front of us had no impediment to timely play), and besides, the slow playing group were accomplished golfers. (Conside…

Great shape, nice hole layout, and the staff are great. I only have one suggestion, not compliant. Friday-Sun is usually the busy days, I played Friday at 930 and they were mowing the fairways, and the rough areas. Mowing is a must but in the afternoon during the week days to me makes more sense. Also please pick up the grass trimmings were we can find our ball in the just in the rough. Agin, its a great course and has a few good challenging holes. They just need food next.

I was pleasantly surprised with this course. It was challenging and well-maintained. Bill in the pro shop was wonderful.
