In summary

Highland Creek Golf Club generally receives praise for its well-maintained fairways, challenging and scenic layout, and friendly staff, with recent renovations improving the course's overall condition. However, some visitors have noted issues with the greens, citing divots and slow recovery from aeration, as well as occasional slow pace of play and customer service concerns. The club offers a relaxed atmosphere with amenities like a food truck, though some feel the pricing could be more competitive given the course conditions.

So my family and I go out to golf and book a tee time on Saturday around 4 p.m. And after we played 3 holes, a guy starts screaming at us, and we have no idea why. Maybe 10 minutes later, an employee pulls up, and he says we can’t drive on the green, and I already knew that, so I told him I didn’t and I know better, and turns out that my brother in his other cart drove on the green, and as he is new to golf and has never booked a tee time, I said sorry, and he said “we usually kick people out the first time we see them do that,” and so we returned to our game, and my cousin hit his ball past t…

Overall pretty garbage course. Didn't finish because of rain but front 9 took 3 hours starting at 10am. Our group had 6 singles in front of us and 3 behind. Played a 3 hour game of hurry up and wait. Why does a course allow this many singles off and why are they not getting paired? Fairways were beautiful, lush and green but everything else was something equivalent to your local $20 muni and weirdly enough the course gets in worse shape the more holes you play. Gas carts are the slowest I've ever ridden on dispute seeking somewhat new. Bar took 15 mins to make a cold ham sandwich with mus…

Awesome course, heard they recently renovated the greens and they are awesome. I played in the middle of December and the place was in awesome shape. Super fun but challenging layout, really cool naturally elevation changes. Need to work the ball both ways off the tee or at least have a good understanding what direction your ball is going. Nice variation in hole distance which helps provide changes in strategy and club choice off tees. Par 3's are on the longer side but are really cool to look at as most tees are elevated, the par 4s have a fair share of variety with length and doglegs. The P…

Great First experience at Highland Creek. The staff was friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. Exploring the winding cart paths is a thrill as hills and elevation changes are prominent. The course was well maintained and in beautiful condition with quick greens that had just recovered from aeration. The creek that snakes thru the course is a natural hazard that consistently reminds you to be sure about the distance you intend to carry. Food Truck available by the clubhouse for beer and food. Hot dog was 7/10. Challenging and fun a course I'd definitely like to revisit soon.

Has a lot of potential but they really gotta fix the greens, as everyone has stated. Hundreds of divots on every green. Found myself fixing 2-3 around my ball each hole but I just felt useless. $75 for the round was steep but we just don't have enough public courses to really be mad at that. Played again 8 months later in April 2025. The course is in really good shape. We don't deserve public courses if we can repair divots. The greens here take a beating so I catch myself repairing 3-4 divots on any given hole just to clean up around my line. Be better Charlotte Golfers.

For winter golf it was in great shape! Not an easy course, greens were receptive and i was able to spin balls back. Fun layout for sure! Pumped to play here in the spring summer when everything is green.

Played on 9/16/25 after the course reopened after renovations. It's currently in pristine condition! The fairways and greens are great! Greens are a little slow because they're too new to cut. To me, they are not as receptive. They roll out on approach shots. The ball sits up in the fairways, and they are very evenly cut and consistantly filled in. Beware!! The rough is punishing though!! Your ball will disappear. So stay in the fairways! A few trees removed, especially on #2. Cart paths repaired too. Well worth playing!! Hopefully, they will continue to maintain the course!

Our favorite place to play in the Charlotte area, friendly, relaxed atmosphere & a course fit to play as you want. My son took me this time as a birthday present & it was a day I will never forget - he got his first legit par on #11, we laughed and had a blast !! Could they do some things to make it better, sure, but we're fans for life...

Great course and highly recommend playing. The only downside to this course would be the tee boxes. They need work but fairway amd greens are pretty special at the moment.

Played here several times over a few years, great course. Back 9 is beautiful. But left today after only 6 holes while the groundskeeper followed us for 2.5 holes waiting to do his job. Waiting for us to hit and then moving the tees and pins. WE TEED OFF AT 3pm! Great course but won’t be going back after complete lack of golf course etiquette from groundskeppers. Manager Mark in clubhouse gave me a rain check… Just go elsewhere in Charlotte… (Groundskeeper in blue: photo)

Played Feb 19. Greens were replaced last summer but are now in horrendous shape...very bumpy. A worker said they were over seeded and won't be good for months. Fairways were also over seeded and look nice. The bunker sand is different on each nine. I'm not coming back here until the summer, if ever.

The course is in good shape but not for $66. Greens are not in great condition. Fixing ball marks is half of the issue. The other half is that the greens didn't heal well after the past aeration. I will play it again but may be another decade if the price doesn't change. Should be more in the $45-50 range for a weekend round.
