In summary

Marion Lake Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic views of Lake James, challenging layout, and friendly staff. Many golfers enjoy the course's unique design and the improvements being made, though some find the shared fairways and lack of a course marshal problematic, leading to slow pace of play. Additionally, there are mixed experiences with the restaurant and online booking system.

Greens were recovering from being punched a couple weeks prior. Not much fluff in the fairways. Staff seemed friendly. I don’t like that holes 13 & 14 share the same fairway. Restaurant wasn’t open when we played. The sodas are on the smaller side and a little over priced. Nice course with some great views of Lake James on the back 9. Don’t think it was worth the money for early in the year. Played 3/30/24. Some blind shots so you need to be careful. We were almost hit twice on the last hole. Once at the tee box then up next to the green.

Greens were green and rolled great. Rest of course was in good shape. Reason for my low star was pace of play was brutal. No Marshall/worker to check. Group of 20 year olds turned their 2 threesome group into a six some. They wouldn’t let people play through and held up play. Took extra hour than necessary. Not recommending this place to anyone.

Good course. They're really doing a lot of upgrades. Great job to course management to improve this great course. Played twice this week. Friendly staff.

We loved the course and even though there was a mix up with our tee time through a third-party booking, the golf pro worked with us as if we were members. We hit some balls first and the we started off on the back nine. Beautiful! So much history, loved the lake views. Plays a bit long for women and challenging but so worth it. We would play here again in a heartbeat!

It's not worth the money. I've played courses for less, that's better. All the fairways are on top of one another, and the layout is just not ideal. The practice range or warm-up range should be only irons. Hitting driver or 3 wood lands you into the first tee box fairway. Shots landed 10 ft from where I was on the first fairway. Rated two stars due to challenging slopes, which was fun.

More golf course than they had land for, especially the back side. Greens had been areated and sanded about a week prior to me playing so didn't get a true picture of the greens. Just an OK golf course

Do not trust online booking. Even with an email confirmation to show that you booked an open tee time, you risk being told there is an event and they will not be able to honor your time or let you play the full 18 you booked. Call in advance and maybe even check again a few days later

Love playing the course. Staff very friendly. Hole 13 and 14 can be sketchy but overall great course would recommend to everyone

My fiends and I attended this course today and for the price it was amazing. it can challenge you each and every way. The back nine has some amazing views of Lake James. The club house has a pro shop and a place to eat. We will definitely be back.

Rough patches in places. The greens for the most part where good. Outside of players not fixing their divots. Good value for $30 a.m. tee time. Not much of a driving range but did have a very small chip area to a flag in the grass. A couple of holes with a nice view. Layout was bananas. Friendly pro shop staff. Gave us a complimentary yardage book which was useful. (13.5 handicapper here)

I can’t believe some people, truly I cannot… So to preface, I am wearing an oversized t shirt and shorts OVER my bathing suit, and my husband has a cut off shirt and his swimming trunks on that are 100% dry, we just left the lake but the boat wasn’t working so we decided to stop by a place near the lake to grab some food. A hole in the wall restaurant, that I didn’t even knew served food, with a 97.5 sanitation score, and a bunch of drunk teenage looking kids in the parking lot, by a golf course, with approximately 6 tables in this hole in the wall mini bar/reaturant…. We walk inside and ask…
