McCauslin Brook Golf Course

So, I was quite nervous about golfing here based on the reviews, particularly about the starter. Our Bachelor Party golfed here 9/27/25, and had a great time! We were all beginner golfers. The starter didn't give us any issues, and actually was friendly and asked the groom plenty of questions about his life! Course was great for the North Woods, and you can beat the Clubhouse bar prices. Maybe we got lucky with a different starter, but don't let the other reviews scare you away.

Great 18-hole up north WI. Would definitely play here again. The refreshment cart girl nearly ran me over and crossed in front of us while we were swinging and insulted us a couple times. Didn't like that but the course was great.

My and my friend had the best waitress experience every, Bailey Vanepren. She was so kind and got us are food really quickly.

Great food great staff. Lindsey was so nice with suggestions from the menu and drinks. She was fast and friendly all with a hurt knee. I dont golf but the hubby did. He enjoyed the game while i enjoyed the beautiful scenery and history. Will def. Be back. Oh and the shrimp dinner is the best ive had in a long time. 😋

Affordable idk about that its more like the highest rates around but maybe one day ill golf there yeah probably not if walking is 40 plus dollars and cart 60 per person was going golfing for 2 for 38 then they raised to 60 for 2 and that seemed like a big jump in price guess not

The course was alright, but the starter continuously hounded us and watched over our group for our entire round. I've never been treated like this at any other course I've been to and was surprised to see how much he'd be telling us to speed up or slow down. We were playing best ball ready golf and used carts to go faster and finished in about 2 hours for 9 holes. Maybe they should put a little more trust in their paying customers to play at a reasonable pace and follow the rules, which is exactly what we were doing. Beautiful course, but you should bring your best manners… we booked a very early tee time and that may have been a mistake. Our bachelor party definitely enjoyed our rounds despite being read the riot act by the starter. Great course design (don’t let the par 72 fool you, it will test all aspects of your game) and deep heritage left all of us wishing we didn’t suck quite as bad as we did. Oh, you absolutely should get the infused Bloody Mary! Thanks to some kind locals we enjoyed the best of a north woods bar and didn’t miss all the balls we lost.

As per the reviews of others, we also had the unfortunate experience of a rude and unprofessional starter. A beautiful course that was dampened by being accused of holding up the game (mind you the party ahead of us was still driving on the next hole) and involving lurking and circling around us until asked if something was needed. What was too far was swearing at my mother- “what the hell do you think you’re doing with one set of clubs,” - when we’d already had our plan to play best ball okayed…. What could have simply been a friendly reminder to keep up the pace and an opportunity to continu…

Unfortunately, we did not read the reviews before going here. Not only was the starter terrible but the service desk guy was extremely rude as well (both older gentleman).We booked 2 Tee times because we had a group of 5. We verified when booking that we were allowed to play best ball/scramble, but the starter insisted that we couldn't play together even though we had back to back T times. When trying to explain this was approved when booking, the starter got belligerent and started yelling at us. It wasn't until we said we were going to ask for a refund that he said he would allow us to play.…

The starter guy was completely rude. Was hoping the previous Google reviews weren't true. Unfortunately we also got to verify that the reviews were indeed completely true. Insulting a member of our party out of nowhere on our 1st hole [on the front 9]. Accusing us of holding up the whole course, when there was no one sitting behind us waiting. We did have a party of 4 but by the start of hole 3 he was so pissed off that he moved us to the back 9. It's Lakewood, Wisconsin...on a Wednesday morning.... let's get real. [Insert eye roll]. Could of just asked nicely... don't be a Richard.
