In summary

Metropolitan Golf Links is praised for its well-maintained greens, challenging links-style layout, and friendly, attentive staff. The course offers a unique experience with its grass driving range and good practice facilities. However, some visitors express concerns about slow pace of play, crowded conditions, and noise from the nearby airport.

A nice, flat, public course by the water and airport. A number of people have commented on folks not replacing/repairing their divots and this is true. Folks need to be more considerate. I come here mainly for the driving range which is one of the very few in the area that the public can practice off real grass. It does not have a cover so it can get hot on sunny days.

It used to be a really nice course, I haven't played it in about 10 years, not sure what happened. Even the Fox families left lol. The group in front of us had 6 players. But it wasn't even close to the worst course I've played. I would play it again.

Greens and sand traps are in good shape. Fairways and tee boxes can be better, but not bad for a muni course. Without the wind, you can score well in this course. Overall, a good layout and the green fees are very reasonable, for a weekend. Finished 18 holes in 4 hrs and 15 minutes

Always a great time. Love the links style. Coming from the sac area and escaping the heat for the bay area. Greens are in great shape and rolling well.

Course is in good shape, my first time playing your course, had a fun round with 36 of our friends. Restaurant disappointed with the closing time. We finished our round headed to the clubhouse for a bite to,only to find out the kitchen was closed. It was only 3:30pm.🙁

Love grass practice range is a humbling experience; hitting off grass is unparalleled. I hadn't been there in years and had forgotten how wonderful the facility and staff are. I plan to return with an improved game.

This is a good golf course in average condition but in the past year (2024-2026) it’s gotten increasingly crowded and play is very slow over 5 hours per 4 some. Every high school, and teaching company use it and on Saturdays, they overrun the range and facilities. Don’t expect it to change anytime soon.

Another course that air planes taking off when you tee off, as it's situated right by the Oakland airport. Other than this, this is a ok course to kill sometimes with friends as there's not much design.

Great course. Always a little wind but makes for a challenge. Very nice but contoured greens, average pace of play the times i played. Pretty wide fairways, but check your course map, a few tricky tee shots. Staff is generally friendly and attentive.

Fantastic course…friendly helpful staff. $40 for an old squeaky cart and 2:45 to play 9. Couldn’t complete 18 due to extreme slow play.
