In summary

Monterey Country Club is appreciated for its affordability, friendly staff, and beginner-friendly layout, making it a popular choice for casual golfers and those new to the game. The course is described as charming and enjoyable, with a welcoming atmosphere and a scenic setting. However, some visitors have noted issues with course maintenance, including patchy greens and soggy conditions, and the occasional lack of staff presence, which can affect the overall experience.

Beautiful area and nice people. The course is very old school as advertised, but it is in really rough shape. The greens are extremely patchy and the fairways are long and rough. Good short little course unless you are serious about quality golf courses.

Recently got back into golf with some friends, and Monterey has been a great course to learn and enjoy the game again. It’s beginner-friendly while still fun for seasoned players. Chad has been putting a ton of effort into the course, He’s passionate about bringing this course back to life, and if you get the chance to chat with him, you’ll see how much he truly cares about the place. Excited to see how Monterey continues to improve.

If you are looking for a place to just wack balls than this is the spot. Technically 18 holes because each of the 9 had a 2nd tee box. Fairway grass was basically yard grass or rough cut short. Greens had not been cut and the cups were very overgrown like they had not been cut in a LONG time.

My 13 year old son is a golf beginner and I haven't played much in years. We were looking for a place where we could swing the clubs and not feel rushed. It was a Friday afternoon in April and we pretty much had the course to ourselves. The office/clubhouse building was closed, with a sign on the door requesting golfers use the honor system and pay in the slot in the door. I didn't have exact change, so ended up overpaying by three dollars. The course was soggy and the greens were pretty slow, but we had a good time. My son is starting a collection of logo golf balls from each course he plays.…

Visited here 4 weeks ago. At this visit we got golf carts. Thank goodness it was very muddy. Went there today there was nobody working in the office. So we paid through a slot in the door. The golf course is like a muddy swamp. If your golfing here wear your boots. Of coarse also couldnt get a golf cart because nobody was there working. There should have at least been a posting on the door to alert you of the muddy mess.

Franklin county Junior Golf Tour Would again like to thank The Monterey Country Club for the use of there facilities for our Local Tour we had almost 40 player’s enjoy a challenging 9 hole round of golf. Its a pleasure to have the support of your members for the support of junior golf in this area and are looking forward to next year Various Tee’s can make this course an enjoyable to brutal course experience with small greens that are hard to hit and with subtle roll and sway as some of our kids found out. The course was challenging in its simplicity with a light drizzle making for tougher con…

Tried to go here to golf a little 9-hole game, ended up being harassed by the management staff. Was told I was being “indecent” and driving my cart on the green in reality I never did drive on the green, but I’ll admit to speeding to the balls only because I was being rushed by club members who were judge mental of your “ Under-average golfer. All in all if your coming here with family to have a good time stick to a driving range or another golfing place .
