In summary

Montgomery Bell Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic layout, friendly staff, and overall good value, especially given its location within a state park. Many players commend the course's challenging design and well-maintained greens. However, some visitors have noted issues with fairway conditions and the need for better course management, with concerns about pricing relative to the course's upkeep.

Course is in bad shape (burnt grass/dirt patches everywhere, unplayable shots all over due to poor course management), pace of play is slow, and prices are high (70 dollars) considering the first two items I mentioned. If you’re in this area, just play Greystone. Nicer in almost every conceivable way. Course needs better care or prices to drop considerably. Shouldn’t cost over 35 dollars to play here.

No complaints and honestly a really good course if you're willing to drive a bit outside of Nashville proper. Good layout with lots of spacing between holes. Staff are friendly as well and tee times relatively affordable.

Great golf course all the way around. Can't beat for the price. Excellent condition and beautiful scenery. Must play if in the area!!

This was the first time I've played here as it was a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. It was a great layout and coarse over all with the exception of the greens. I understand it is early in the season but the greens were so hard and fast that if you missed the cup your ball was likely going all the way to the fringe downhill and had several balls roll back after putting within one foot of the cup up the slope. Hope to play again someday when greens are in better condition.

Really nice layout but the fairways are so thin they need to let some grass grow on these fairways

Great shape. Issues that you find from state park courses with washout near the path. Greens and fairways were in good shape.

A very good golf course that is unfortunately in really bad shape. Although the extra-dry summer is a factor in the baked-out fairways, the grass was obviously pretty thin to begin with. Most tees are in terrible, chewed-up condition and look like the markers haven't been moved in weeks. Some are just dirt and several were so worn that you couldn't find a level stance. The one upside was most of the greens were in decent shape. We played here back in April and it was in awful shape then but we gave it the benefit of the doubt since it was so early in the warming season. We were told last month…

Course is in really bad shape. Only positive is the greens are in good shape. Bad spots everywhere with no grass. And they have Nats so bad you can hardly play. Way overpriced at 60 dollars. Play somewhere else!

I’ve played this course 15 times but will never again because the starter ruined the whole experience for an other wise solid course. I came up to the starter at 6:50 for my 7am tee time (checked in at the pro shop at 6:45) and he was incredibly rude. He told me “Well I’m showing past 7 so your group is already almost done with hole 1”. After showing him 6:50 on my phone and his phone, I asked him if I should go ahead and tee off and he looked at me and said “no you should not have missed your tee time, it’s not my problem…” I had to skip hole 1 to catch the group I was supposed to play with…

Great people.... The course, no. Great layout but unfortunately needs a golf person in charge and not the state. No fairways to speak up, bad condition all the way around. One can only assume it is typical when a state goes into a business they know nothing about. $67.00 for a round of golf, cart, and bucket of warm-up balls is beyond comprehension for what amounts to a really badly kept muni course.
