In summary

Penderbrook Golf Club receives mixed reviews, with some visitors praising the course for its challenging layout, well-maintained fairways, and friendly staff. However, many express dissatisfaction with the condition of the greens, high fees, and limited practice facilities, noting that the course's upkeep does not justify the cost. Additionally, some mention slow pace of play and a lack of amenities such as a proper driving range and beverage cart.

Do not play. Worst golf experience of my life. $90+ for unplayable greens. Check out the pictures to see how big of a joke this course is. Oh yeah, and a 5 hour round.

For $95 dollars, this is by far one of the worse maintained, raggediest golf courses I have ever played. Located in Fairfax, VA, apparently this is the best/ worst the area has to offer. Fairways on 7 and 14 were disgusting and the greens or edge of greens on holes 6, 10, and 14 looked like they had the mange, and totally ridiculous!! Penderbrook should be shaving at least $10 off their fee for not having a driving range. They have a 3 or 4 mats, net cage near the 18th hole and an absolutely Disgusting practice putting green. I just showed up and started playing due to bad practice areas. From…

Course was in terrible condition for $90. Was reminded multiple times to stay cart path only, even when geese were hanging out on the path, guess we were supposed to hit them. Seems like the mowers were cutting poorly, and some of the greens had huge burn spots.

Course wasn't bad, greens, tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were all in decent shape for the most part. Reasonable greens fees. Pro shop was sad, very little merchandise, was not greeted or told who I was playing with, if anyone, where to go or asked if I'd been there before. No starter either, I basically just loaded an open cart and teed off, never saw anyone from the staff. Restaurant was also pretty dire, most of the lights were off and limited options. Also no beverage cart out there although there was a water in all of the jugs where they had them. Very slow play, no Marshal and they defi…

Played here on 10/17/25. They clearly advertised that the greens would be aerated on 10/14-10/15 and even provided a discounted rate. Even with the aerated greens this course was in great shape, and a really fun course to play. The staff was helpful and I’d highly recommend this course to others.

I knew when I booked a week ago that the greens had been recently aerated (over a month ago), and that was fine—but I’ve honestly never seen greens in worse condition than these. I’ve played a lot of courses over the years, and even after aeration, most of them still maintain decent playability or at least offer a discount. Not the case here. What’s really frustrating is the price. This course is charging close to $100, and there’s no proper driving range—just a net to hit into. That alone would be a red flag at this price point. On top of that, the practice putting and chipping greens are so…

Staff was friendly and the design is pretty cool. Can be very challenging if you’re not a regular golfer. Unfortunately the green conditions are not great but I can understand given it hasn’t been a great summer weather wise. My problem with this place is the price. A majority of public courses in this area offer a reduced rate for walkers but this place still charges you the same as a cart rider which is $90+. That’s absurd. I can play 18 at Herndon for less than $50 walking on a weekend. Much better conditions too. There’s not really a range here, just a net with a couple of mats. The prac…

Amazing golf course. Was underwhelmed until hole 4. Water comes into play around hole 6 or 7 and there’s a bunch of really fun water shots. Got paired up with 3 really nice guys and had a good round. They limit the card to two carts per round and charge extra for additional carts

I'm a very happy regular here. Course is always in great shape. Greens run true and fast but aren't too crazy. Course is tight in places but this is balanced by some shorter holes for a lovely mix of different challenges. Watch out in winter when the temperatures drop - the course is very prone to frost which means that frost delays that impact the morning are frequent once it drops below 40.

Played this beautiful course for the first time in mid-October. It’s GORGEOUS! The holes take full advantage of the hilly and challenging terrain, the fairways and rough are immaculately maintained, and the greens are challenging but fair. The staff - from the rangers and cart people on the course, to the management in the pro shop - couldn’t have been more helpful or friendlier. I played with my two adult sons, and the three of us were joined by a fourth fellow who was a frequent player here. Honestly, it was hard to tell who enjoyed ourselves more - we first-timers or our seasoned playing…

Another good golfing experience at Penderbrook. The starters are on point and work hard to get golfers out on time and early, in some cases. The course is pretty short from the whites but it is in great condition. The greens are pretty slow but in excellent shape. It’s always a treat to play here.

Poorly managed and run, greens and tee boxes in terrible shape. No cart person. Golf cart paths are in terrible shape. Would rather spend my money playing at a better course. Will notbe back.
